Weather forecast is Rain All day today and Tomorrow. so can we play the nadal quarters on sunday AM and Semi on Tuesday and the Final on Wed am ? I think that may work out well. and make the admission tickets to first come first serve basis....
if we do this, i say Nadal is the NEW US Open Champion come wednesday.........
haha Possibly. This is the second year in a row that the us open has turned real ugly on the last weekend. Man this doesnt look good. Nadal or Gonzo might have to play two matches tomm.

That is totally insane to have those guys play 2 matches on the same day. If that happens,, Nadal and Gonzo should combine and Sue USTA and US open tournament for "Obstruction of pathway to becoming a US open champion". could sue for 20 Million dollars combined.

Doubtful someone would play two matches in the same day but if it rains today then they will finish this match tomorrow+first semi and sunday second semi and monday the final.Either way the winner of this match will have a tough time in the next match and possibly the final.

Having this lingering QF match is a huge problem. If the QFs were completely finished, this all wouldn't be such a problem. It would simply be like last year, SFs Sunday (even late afternoon Sunday with simultaneous matches), final Monday (assuming they don't get play in on saturday).

But, since they are not going to make the winner play twice in one day, they basically have to get the rest of the match in sometime today, otherwise everything is screwed up.

Even after this happening two years in a row, I doubt the USO will get away from Super Saturday scheduling.

But, for the life of me, I can't understand why the USTA (which has tons of cash) doesn't just build a retractable roof court for these situations.

Arthur Ashe stadium (which holds 23,500 people) doesn't seem like a good structure for a roof, since it rises so high and the way it fans out at the top, and it would be much more difficult to retrofit such a roof on an existing structure than simply build a new stadium with a roof.

So keep Ashe with no roof. Build a new second stadium, which seats anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 people, and design it like Laver Arena at the AO, where the roof can close quickly.

Armstrong is a nice little stadium, how many does that hold? I used to know but can't remember anymore.

I will just hope they finish today. I guess I'll miss it either way. Hope you guys get the chance to enjoy it.

Roger and Rafa respect each other and get along well. It's their more rabid fans that cannot stand the other player.
LOL I see what you mean ... I am often surprised on these boards at the swipes and snipes that people take at each other .... when tennis is already losing people because of the difficulty of the game, and the perceived snobbism.

Can you believe that some tournaments where the match might start in 50 F degrees are telling people, regardless of age, that they cannot wear long pants.

Come on, "they cannot be serious" - LOL

at first hey said 2:30 Eastern time in US, so I have no idea ... but don't go by that ... we'll have to sit in front of television ... LOL

why they showed Venus beating Clijsters TEN years ago is beyond me ...

our U S media is anything but fair .... why not show some positive highlights from BOTH players at various times and let it go at that ...

This should be on Armstrong not before 15:00 NY time.

And they want all matches to start at the same time. Sucks...

Showing Serena beating Hingis in the final, shortly after.

Ugh, just checked the schedule and play's been pushed to 3:30PM now. Which is 3:30AM for me. It's 2:30AM right now, guess I'm going to bed. Sucks because I really wanted to watch this.

I wanted to see the CliJsters match and the mens dubs finals (2 indians playing, Lee vs Hesh). And Rafa beating Gonzo.

I think I'm going to assume there'll be no play today (at least whilst I'm up), and thus if there is any at all I can be pleasantly surprised.

that or miss any that happens by not paying attention, and be further annoyed

usopen says no earlier than 3:30 for both matches simultaneously.

Hopefully it happens and then everything gets rained out tomorrow. :)

At some point of the day they should call it a washout. It`s pretty exhausting for the players sitting and waiting all day not knowing when or if they will play at all.

I'm in NYC right now, rain has NOT stopped. *sigh*

it'll be a miracle if some matches are played today, weather is just awful.

here's hoping...

This going to be a brutal weekend for all the players remaining because the forecast for tomorrow is a bit dodgy as well, hopefully they will get a few solid windows to get play going.

It was stupid to have the match at a time that they had an almost 100% certainty of rain.

With that said Nadal did a very good job of neutralizing Gonzo and then taking care of his serve. However not that Gonzo has had time off he will not be tired and can really tear up the court, as for Nadal his injury has some time to heal.
