I've gotta say. That was a high quality opening set from both of them. Excellent serving and some nice winners thrown in. Glad I decided to watch this one. Rublev just about earned that I think but Nick played well too.

Rublev was really solid that first set, very impressive. The first set was only 34 minutes, let's see what Nick brings in the second. He needs to go after the weak Rublev second serve.

It's not about seeing close stuff. I start getting spots in my vision under the lights some times and it ruins your ability to see the ball at contact on on serve. It ruins your read on the spin. Doesn't really hurt your striking that much.

You could be right. Nadal is that good. But I've been really impressed with what I've seen from Rublev. The guy brings intensity that few others on tour not named Nadal possess.

Probably playing COD in the dark. I have a similar issue where I get spots in my vision when playing under the lights. I'm not sure why Nick would have that issue at his age though. I didn't start experiencing that stuff until my 30's.

I think you're discounting Rafa. I watched Nadal in 2004 and he rarely, rarely dropped serve when serving for a match. Rublev choked to love when serving against Tsits last week. Rublev is not the talent Nadal was, no way.

How can anyone be so deluded to think Nick doesn't work out, train or practice? I've watched live him practice at IW and it's intense.

I've been to NY multiple times. It still doesn't explain why they can't shut up between 1st and 2nd serves in tennis matches. Of course New Yorkers are rude in general but it's very distracting to the players.
