v13 Pro Staffs

Normally play with a Speed MP (with leather and Confidential).
Tried the RFv13 and PSv13 last night playing singles and dubs. The demos were strung with Duo Feel and Duo Control hybrids.
Served well with both. had some issues returning serve with both. Felt a bit unstable on the 2hbh for some reason.
Shoulder feels all jacked up today though.
Slight pain at the front of the shoulder and range of motion feels a bit tight and restricted.

Any experience with Pro Staffs being too stiff, or maybe the weight of the RF, although it didn't feel very heavy at all.
Actually swung fairly easily.
I did feel the extra depth and power due to the weight. Felt good.

-yes, the PS line is a bit stiffer, specially comparng it to the h.speed line, in general
-softer strings tend to be favored!, IMO/IME
-ive given up on hard FB.polys (lower tensions) on the PSs
-the PS line NOW has a stiffness rating in the high 60s
-the H.speed has a stiffness rating in the mid 60s
-i have an older v12.RF with babolatrpm.power (soft poly) on the low tension range, works OK!!
-i have new ps97.v13 with (head.linx in the 40lb range and/or lux.element in the 40lb range )
-hybrid string setups should work well in the low 50lb range if you wanna do that (poly/Soft.cross)

Sad to read that the Pro Staff is very stiff... I played great with it but seems like I'm not the only one feeling it on the wrist and shoulders. If someone is able to tell me if the Ultra Pro in 16x19 with some lead will play similar in a softer package or the VCP 97 as some said... i tried the radical pro but is just too light and my prestige is getting difficult. Thanks

Poly or not, I do not see how stiffness would translate to shoulder pain…
Wrist — another matter. I too found V13 too stiff. I tried RF97 — I did not suffer from its stiffness, but it was too heavy for me. I play with a regular PS97 CV. I injected silicone into the handle. It made it feel softer for me. Compared to Head Speeds, it feels much softer and much better dampened now. I would recommend the Wilson Shock Shield grip ( gel ). If that does not work, you will need to transition to a much softer and heavier racquet C10 Pro or Ultra Tour/Ultra Pro.

not sure how a stiff racquet is going to hurt your shoulder unless you already have some sort of chronic shoulder issue.

How fast your swinging the racquet and how heavy it is would be the main racquet possibilities, but more than anything its a technique thing or your body just needs a break. the shock from the stiffness is going to have to pass through your hand, to your wrist, up your forearm, through your elbow, over the whole upper arm before it gets to the shoulder.

they're all in the same class of frames esp since the ps97 v13 is lower powered compared to the previous gens. if you prefer the balance and crispness of the ps97, the UP16 is closer to the ps97 imo.

I played with the v13 for 2 months and did not find it stiff. I switched back to the v11 afterwards. The v13 definitely felt under powered. I did not like the new string pattern and new butt cap.

Very stiff racquets. Don’t bother. It’s gonna destroy your arm. And then you’ll be even more limited in your racquet options. One of my biggest regrets sticking with the RF97.

I've been rocking the PSv13 for about a year now, and I think it plays about the same stiffness-wise as my old nCodes and just a bit stiffer than the PS85 I used in Juniors/College.
I've settled on a gut/poly hybrid at 56M/52C. Loved VSTouch16/YPTP16, and am okay with VSTouch16/Ghostwire 1.27. What the PSv13 gives me that no other stick does is a feeling of total control at the net and on serves. Pinpoint accuracy. Groundies require superior timing and footwork - but this has always been the case with ProStaffs.

I've been using the PSv13 for about 8 months, from the VCore 97 HD. I'm very happy with it, VS 16g mains @ 46, Lux ALU Power 16Lg @ 42 crosses. No discomfort whatsoever personally.

The VCore Pro 97 with about 3 or 4 grams of lead at noon will do everything that the PS97 can do but even better and will be much more comfortable. Take it from me... a 15 year Pro Staff user about to make the switch.

Using PS97 v13 with full poly around 53lbs and it feels great. For your shoulder, make sure you’re hitting well in front and not arming the ball. This racquet is unforgiving but sublime when you hit properly.
