Vapor 9.5 vs Lunars vs. Gel Resolution 5

I have been a happy Vapor 9 customer and followed to Vapor 9.5. I think that 9.5s gave me plantar fascitis but now that I put in superfeet green soles the plantar fascitis is gone (or was it the work shoes?). My favorite feature of the Vapors is the light weight and the comfort. Stability is ok, but I have been feeling like I could use a little bit more ankle support. I play with Barricades 7s from time to time and generally like them as well.
I am thinking about experimenting with shoes a bit and I am debating between Nike Lunar Ballistec's (stick with Nike) and Gel Resolution 5s (very high reviews). Any thoughts from people that have tried them all?

One thing I notice is that when you try to twist them (one hand on the toe box other hand on the heel turning in the opposite direction) the Barricade 7's are much firmer than the Vapor 9.5's. A good shoe for people with plantar fasciitis is supposed to be firm when doing this test.

Or you get insole reinforcet with plastic in the arch, for more lateral stability like Dr Scholl's active.

I got my plantar fasciits in B8 on clay, could have been related to toe jamming and stifness + a recent injury on my other knee.

I would go with Nike Lunars on hard courts and GR5 on clay (on hc, you may get pains in the balls of your feet- metatarsalgia and less lateral stability then ideal as well).

You may want to use the search function for each shoe to read more opinions here though....

I tried Lunar Ballistecs and they were great on hard courts and clay. The 6 month warranty is also a great deal if you can wear them out in time.

That always seems to be my problem. Just cannot wear them out in time.

Would you suggest an insole with lunars like I do with vapors (superfeet green)?

Everyone agrees that Nike' stock insoles are the worst...

Personally I use Dr Scholl's active (gel with some plastic reinforcements in the arch for added lateral stability) in every tennis shoe now, be it Nike CourtBallistec 4.3, Asics Gel Resolution 5, Barricades 8 etc.

But, I've only started doing it this summer, after the firts bout of plantar fasciitis- heel pains (probably when over compensating for another injury on my other knee).

No, I always feel like the cushioning goes before the outsole. Could just be me, though.

Ah, I had similar experience, the cushioning and lateral support going fast for Vapors 9.5, in less then 1.5 months on hard courts....Not as much for Nike CourtBallistecs 4.3 though, although even for those in about 3 months on hard court, it can give....

Recently, I tried the K-Swiss Ultra Express and it is more stable feeling than the Vapor. It could be an option, too.

the barricade 8 and resolution 5 are already heavy shoes. a custom insole makes it too much for me.

Should I use hard court or clay shoes on har-tru? or it does not matter?

For me, being tall and heavy, while still trying to move aggresively, the clay version of GR5 was an improvement over the hybrid (still herringbone pattern except in the arch, but shallower) Barricades 8 and even more so over all court Nike CB 4.3.

I've never changed the stock insoles before, except for this summer, when I developed these pains in the heel (plantar fasciitis) and they help...Even for walking they do.

Also I'm not sure about the actual specs but Barricades 8 seem much heavier (or is it due to stiffnes/clunkyness?) then Resolutions 5...

Same deal with Nike CourtBallistecs 4.3, while I think that on paper they weigh more then Barricades 8, they certently don't feel that way(quite the opposite).

I'm also a big guy, 220 Lbs at 6'2" so I probably can't feel the differences in weight too much.
