Nike themselves are the ones to blame for the poor sales. Not our fault they gave us really plain colors and minimal customization options. Like seriously, the retail Vapors are dual toned, why can't our own custom ones be?

People moan about not being able to id, and when they can, moan about something else.
Moral of the story, people moan, welcome to the Internet.

Compare to other IDable shoes, the Vapor 9's design options (changeable areas and color selection) are far more limited.

For example, the "upper" is just one piece now. Stock Vapor 9 comes with a two tone design, 2013+ Vapor 9 has a colored tongue and backside. Other IDable shoes allow for two toned option for the upper too.

Another argument in favor of more options: scroll through the posts with pics and observe how many of them are only one or two components away from a previously issued stock Vapor 9. There's even a couple of Wimbledon ideas that look like the Fed 9s and 8s--the only difference on one I think is the sole is that color Nike calls "white lime".

Even though I was disappointed in the number of options and color choices, I still ordered two pairs. If there had been more choices, I'd have ordered more.

Too bad the original V9 thread was deleted.
The moment I saw the first V9 I knew immediatly nike was gonna propose to ID them.
When are you guys will receive yours? I want to see pics

I have a feeling, if they don't discontinue this offer, I will be getting another pair too.

Will do. Should be another week and a half or so.

Anyone else considering this? I'm going to try to make an 'RF' stencil, sized down to fit on the outside side trim, then using white paint or fingernail polish to put it on. I think it's doable.

Anybody gotten a shipping notice yet? Usually with ID products you get one, but I haven't and I ordered on 12/18. And this is what I ordered, so I guess I'll probably order the Volt ones to make it a day night pair (sort of). http://**************/us/en_us/product/vapor-9-tour-id-tennis-shoe/#?mid=500991114&cp=usns_em_auto_idorderstart&sitesrc=nikestoreNT_sfem

Just received an email from Nike that my shoes have been shipped. Should be on my doorstep on Monday.

I ordered on December 19 and just got the shipping notice. I'm assuming it takes a while to get things from Shenzhen/Dongguan, China.

Borelli did you end up the guinea pig and ordering the cool greys?? If so I'd love to see live pics once you get them, I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on a very similar looking pair.

Sorry man, I chickened out and ordered a copy of the Federer turquoise AO one's  That white midsole on the cool grey's would've gotten trashed anyway.

I was considering something similar with that all white midsole area but decided against it given the white is gonna get destroyed in a hurry.
Yeah, the one colour they needed to add was a grey midsole imo.

The white midsole on my retails V9s don't seem too badly discoloured although I mostly play on hard court.

I hope the grey close to the picture though - I'll be a bit disappointed if it turns out too much lighter in shade.

^^^^ Thanks for the update. 'Almost done' - LOL!

What was your order date? Mine was 12/24 - got the 'started work' email the next day and nothing since.

I asked this question in the other thread about posting pics of your shoes, but I figure I might get a faster response here, since the question is specifically about vapor 9's.

Anyone know how the Vapor 9's fit, some reviews people suggested you go half a size up, so I'm just wondering before I order them if I should get an 11.5 or an 11 (my normal size.)

I'm not looking to get a customized pair, just one off the web, especially since it'll be cheaper.

I'd say stick with your regular size. If you are a Nike guy, the CB4.3s fit similarly, but the mold is obviously different. From mid-arch to the ball of the foot the Vapor is much straighter, so if you need the room in the toe box, Vapors are a better bet than Ballistecs.

I only played about one set in Barricades before I gave up on them but they seem smaller across the board.

Another vote for your usual Nike size. Glad to see another TW'er joining the V9 club. Enjoy.

Well normally I wear New Balance, but I heard a ton of reviews from people saying that these new Vapor 9's were more friendly to people with wider widths, so I figured why not try them out. I always hated that w/ New Balance they never had too many options open, especially for color. I also went and measured my foot using this:

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/LC/ShoeSizing.html

I realized it was like exactly 4 inches at the widest point. But that's why I asked if they maybe run small or big, since I normally don't wear Nikes.

No shops in your town/city you could try some on? If I was buying a brand I rarely wore I would.

The only place I know of that sells Vapors is pretty far, and if I bought them in store I'd have to pay tax on them, which kind of sucks, because that adds like over 8 extra bucks. I just went ahead and got them size 11.5, because another company recommended that you go half a size up than you normally wear in other shoes.

But they still let you try them on...

Quick snap before I left for work. Yes its simple but Nike hasn't made a clean all black tennis shoe since the vapor 6.
