Vapor V vs. VI and Cage II vs. Ballistec 1.3 Weights

benne

Nike hyped up Lunarlite and Flywire so that they could produce a very light shoe.

let the numbers do the talking.

Vapor V weight : 15.7 Oz.
Vapor VI weight: 15.1 Oz.

Max Breathe Cage II Weight: 16.3 Oz.
Ballistec 1.3 weight : 17.7 Oz.

These are all found on TW website (Size 10.5)

Either way the shoes look great and may be more durable.

What are all of your thoughts on this matter?

P.S. why didn't the put the RF logo on the black vapor VI?

very nice!!! err.. i tink with those numbers i'll be sticking to Cage II

LOL! RF logo... adds weight to the shoe overall maybe.. LOL:) juz joking

RF logos would only be owned by roger himself. can't wait to see USOPEN version of it... most prob i would have the USOPEN trophy logo with a 5 in it!!!

TBH the vapor VI with the weight loss are going to be less durable imo. The good news about the ballistecs is that they are now built like tanks, so the weight increase should lead to it being more durable.

i really want to get the ballistec but the weight it really pushing me away from it...sigh but the vapours and the geniuses + barricades look good

I weighed my ballistics on our digital scale (size 9.5) and they came out to be 16.25 oz. The scale is quite accurate as well.

FWIW, my barricades did not last me any longer than my Cage 2's last year. I play on HC 98% of the time and that's pretty tough on everything.

It's still too early to see how the ballistics will stack up but I give the edge to the Cage 2's over the B5's. The cushioning was better for HC with the B5's but I felt much quicker with the Cages and felt more effective overall with them.

I really like the Ballistics and think they will be on equal terms with the other 2 but I just need to get some more court time with them. They just feel really different than the cages and that takes some getting used to. Try on a pair and you'll see what I mean.

My son's will be here next week so I'll be curious to see his reaction to them. LIke me, he used the cage 2's and B5's last year.

Tell me when you get an answer as to how the 3 stack up to each other. I was using the Cage 2 and B5's last year also, and I might consider staying. Well definitely I am staying w/ the B5 because the CC Genius is just disgusting, worse than the Ballistic. I might get a pair of Ballistics during this year though.

Yeah, the Bricktics are incredibly heavy and not overly supportive. Serious downgrade from the BFII and Cage II. The real winner is the Vapor VI because it now has the durability and support of the Cages but a bit less weight. Anyone looking for a real lightweight shoe will be disappointed in the new Vapors. They're not light.

So I am assuming you like the Vapor 6s more than the Ballistics?
Still pondering on whether I will get a pair of CB 1.3's in the future. I've just never been a Vapor guy, so I know I won't be getting the Vi's .

Why buy the Bricks? If your feet are too fat for the Vapors, get the BFII or Cage 2 instead of the Bricks.

Haha, your strongly against the CB's eh. Well when I first saw them, I was so disgusted at what Nike came up with. But after looking at the future colorways, I was thinking "hmm, which colorway looks best, maybe I will get it down the road if they are great shoes in terms of on the court" Looks like the Black/Pink ones are the nicest, and I might get them. I hope they don't have the bull logo on them though, I vote for regular Nike swoosh on the side.

I couldn't care less about how they look. The Bricks are HEAVY, not terribly supportive and aren't well ventilated.

Haha, bricks, very creative..
How long did you play test the shoes for El Guapo? And do you have a comparison of them to the BV or the Nike Cage 2 (my current 2 shoes of choice)

El Guapo

If you want something ultra-durable, I'd get the Cages over the Bricks. Better comfort, better ventilation and better weight. The BV are just heavy and not terribly cushioned. Between the BV and the Bricks, I'd get the Bricks because of better cushioning and similar weight (since you go down 1/2 size in the Bricks). Just be warned that they are terribly ugly in person.

The Vapor VIs are very durable for me, but I'm not a toe-dragger. They do have better stability and cushioning compared to the Vapor Vs along with less weight.

Is the toe box actually wider in the Vapor VIs over the Vs, or was that just a rumor?

WildVolley

It's wider. I went down 1/2 size in the Vapor VI because of it.

That's good to know, I might be able to actually wear these shoes, though I've really gotten used to the comfort of my Yonex shoes. How would you say the width compares with the BF2?

Not as wide as the BFII but better cushioning in the forefoot.

So I am assuming your least fav to most fav goes, Barricade V, your so called bricks aka. ballistics and then the cage 2s?

I think im going to wear out my cage 2s and then upgrade to the ballistecs., but im in no rush... the colors are awful so far.

Correct. The Vapor VI is better still.

Eh, I am just not a Vapor guy, so I wont get them . The only vapor I have ever tried were the Vapor Iv and those were awful. The toe box was way too narrow and the cosmetics were off. They look a bit too feminine for my taste. Ballistic design isn't bad, just colorways are what making it so hideous. Will wait for the better colors to come later in the year. First decent colorway to come out for these will be the black/pink, but im still on the fence about the fact i'll be wearing a shoe w/ pink on it  i might pass and just get the white/ yellow ones, but those are all the way until fall 09....

You might want to try being a little less metro.

^^ If you can pull of wearing pink or yellow on a shoe good luck. :D

Haha, your right... but what can I do? All the colorways have insane colors in it. I don't see one versatile colorway, other than the white/obsidian ones that jsut came out, but I can't get it b/c I can't get any shoes right now and the color is still a bit too dull.

If im honest, the CB's released (or will be) are either too flashy or too plain.

The pair i would get still tho would be the blue white silver ones. Not too flashy, but a tiny bit basic, which aint to bad.

Your right, but what am i going to do when my cage 2's wear out? Ierno if I want to go and dig out some more cage 2's when they will be in the clearance racks and harder to find. I think regardless of the not-so-great colorways , I still will be forced to get one b/c they will be pretty much the only breathe line shoe there is.

If you can pull off the white and yellow CB's then get them. I personally would not be able to.

Even if I were to commit myself to the white and yellow CB's, then I'd be waiting all the way till Fall 09 / USO to get my first pair of CB's... :???: I am sure I will be needing a new pair of shoes and my current 2 cage 2's will be long gone... It seems that I might have to pick up another colorway of the C.B. Sort of almost like Nike might be forcing me to get a pair if the Cage 2's get hard to find... I like the black/pink also, but I am not sure if I can manage to match with those.... From now until the end of the year, I am only looking at 3 different colors.... all 3 which are pretty limited in terms of apparel matching, white/concord grape (wimby), white/yellow (fall 09/uso) and the black/pink (french)

Yup, they are. Nike's most heaviest shoe, and supposedly their most durable. El Guapo even dubbed the Ballistecs , "Bricks" haha.

And correct me if I am wrong, the Ballstec's weigh also more than the Adidas Barricade V. Which is pretty crazy.

Here is some further info which should help. Glad they made the toe box bigger.....BIG plus!! I actually like the RF logo I think it looks really good.

Thank you for contacting Tennis Warehouse. The White/Silver Nike Vapor VI that are currently on the website have the Federer logo on the heel. The toe box on the Vapor VI is slightly wider then the ones on the Vapor V. I hope this information is helpful. Please email or call 1-800-883-6647 if you have any further questions or concerns, we will be happy to assist you.

Please let me know if I may help you with anything else.

I don't think that the White/Yellow ones are that hard to pull of, in fact they should be the 2nd easiest to behind the White/Obsidian ones that are out so far. Black/Pink and the Black/Turqoise are obviously impossible for me to wear and the White/Purple isn't my cup of tea with the purple.

God I am preaching about the colorways alot, I don't even know if I will like the shoe  In fact If i don't like the shoe, I am going to stick with the Cage 2s and possibly look into the Vapor VI (I never thought I'd say this)
