Vcore 95 fave setups?

Had my first hit and 1 set match with the 2018 Vcore 95 few nights ago.

I modified it from the get-go based on reviews and feedback from people. I added Tungsten tape to the top of the racquet essentially between the fins (so 12 of the Main strings - I think it was 2g), then about 2g each at 3 and 9 o'clock (so 12 crosses), 0.5g each at 2,4,8, and 10 o'clock (which is about 3 crosses), replaced the standard grip with a Volkl Leather grip, added about 6g of Tungsten Putty inside the butt cap, flared the but cap (not sure how much weight that added), put on an overgrip, and added a rubber band dampener (No.64 from memory).

The static weight comes to 363g strung with Hyper-G 1.15mm string at 45M/42C FB.

Played well, served great, excellent drop shots and volleys. I've recently spent quite a bit of time hitting with the G360+ SP and GP and trying to mod them to my liking... so transitioning to the VC95 resulted in a few off-centre hits and mishits on return-of-serve... but otherwise, it was great.

I may tinker a bit more... but the racquet is very good. I have not spent nearly enough time with it to say just how good... but I played well and it didn't suck, so the rest is up to me and finding the perfect set-up. There is lots of potential though, which is always a good sign.

Have a very similar setup, just without the added weight in the handle. Not sure you need it, with a leather grip and overgrip it’s already quite head light. My static weight is about 358.
Actually needed a few weeks to adjust to the racquet. Because it swings so fast and is so head light my strokes are a bit whippier now.

What are your thoughts on the Gravity Pro compared to the VC95? Is your GP as heavily modded? I have a 95 on the way for an extended demo and the GP has been my main stick for the better part of the last year.

How did you flare the butt cap? Some do it just by folding and wrapping overgrip around the end a couple of times.

Yeah, you might be right. It was my first hit. I'll keep playing with it and see how I feel and how things progress, and then tinker further if I notice any areas that need tweaking.

Yeah, the GP is also heavily modded. It has a static weight of around 360g strung (depending on the strings used), and a balance of 31.5cm (strung). I've added weight in the head and handle.

I'm loving the GP. It feels great, it's plush, the sweet spot is large, the head size allows for great volleys and OHBHs, yet the racquet is controlled. With my mods, it feels like you don't need to be on the gas the whole time, but can inject pace and flatten out if needed. I'm still experimenting with strings to find what works best. The feel of the G360+ SP in comparison was more muted and the launch angle lower.

Since I have had only one hit with the VC95, I am not able to compare them in detail. There is the obvious difference in head size, but I didn't have huge issues with mis-hits... it mainly happened on the ROS, and as you said, a few times when the racquet cut through the air maybe a little quicker than expected. I was also a bit unwell for a few weeks and therefore was not trying to play all out when it came to running and how hard I was trying to hit the ball. I need to spend more time with the VC95. It is crisper than the GP (and the G360+ SP), but by no stretch uncomfortable.

I found both racquets to be good on serve and I didn't have any issues (the longer I use the racquets, the more I will groove with them).

Hope that helps.

Does the VC 95 grip size runs bigger??
Yonex grip size in general runs a little bit bigger than say Wilson or Head. Of course the difference isn't massive but it is noticeable.

For example, 4-1/4 is my preferred grip size for all brands, Yonex as well. But I can play with a Head or Wilson 4-3/8 no problem. A Yonex 4-3/8 though would feel kind of awkward for me.

Thank you!

Used this frame briefly but settled on the pure strike

I had 8 inches of lead divided equally (1/4 inch lead) at 10 and 2 on the frame

And yonex poly tour pro at 48

Great frame but when I got defensive not enough pop for me on the run

I have found happiness with Tecnifibre 4s 16 at 50lbs. When I need to hit with a little more softness from the racquet, I use my other Vcore 95 with Tecnifibre 4s 16 at 49lbs in the mains, and Volkl V-Square 16 in the crosses at 51lbs.

Just picked up a Vcore 95 2021 and absolutely love it. Been trying an number of different lead/grip set ups and at a slight crossroads. To me, it plays best in stock form but lacks stability on defensive shots or off-centre hits. I've attempted adding even a small amount of weight in the hoop ( 2g @3/9 and 1g @12) and a leather grip to keep the balance similar and the overall playability drops dramatically for me. Wondering if anyone has found a nice sweet spot with the minimum amount of weight to improve stability whilst keeping that nice whippy feeling the racket has.

Thanks

I string my SV95 with 4S 1.25 at 50/48. It's not the softest racquet in the world, so I've been thinking about trying a gut/poly setup, but 4S is a killer string. Use it in my PS97 v13 as well.

Its incredibly stable in stock form.

I think the leather grip is counterbalancing too much (if you are using an overgrip on top, even more). If your Vcore 95 is withing specs (310 grams, 318 SW) just 2 grams at 3/9 will do.

It will increase the stability slightly just for that extra confidence, it won’t alter balance and increase SW to 321). Just a tip here: 3/9 with this racquet for me would actually be around 2/10 where the racquet is widest, I would put the weight there to get the most out of those 2 grams, and it’s where you would want to be hitting the ball anyways.

Personally, I wouldn’t want this racquet even more headlight without increasing the weight by a lot. I find the Vcore 95 2021 perfect with a 7 HL balance (31.7ish).

As much as I agree, I play at a level where hard hitters can punish the instability the racket gives on defensive or off centre shots. I bit of weight in the hoop and handle to maintain the balance solves the issue for me.

I'm looking for more power in my VC95 setup. I've been using HyperG 16L at 52lbs and currently trying Luxilon Alu Power Rough 16L because that's all the shop had. I've been going up against a big hitter and feeling a little under-powered at the moment. I like HyperG and that it provides a higher launch angle than a lot of other strings. Maybe I just need a hybrid.

lots of things you can do to increase power. Increase the swing weight by adding lead tape in the hoop, lower the stringing tension, use a softer string (e.g. Hyper G soft), and using a thinner cause . Also adding a multifilament in the crosses can provide more power too.

I have vcore95 -2018, and was wondering if rpm blast mains @23kg and natural gut VS crosses @22 would be ok? I am mostly attacking.
