Vcore or Ezone for my game ?

I'm switching clubs in September and will have to choose a Yonex racquet.

I previously played with the Head Extreme Tour 2020 and then the Extreme MP 2022.
I string with L-Tec Paradox 1.23 at a very low tension: 17 kg.
Sometimes I use Luxilon Element as well.

Which model would you recommend between: Ezone 100, Vcore 100, Vcore 98, or Ezone 98?
Or possibly a lighter version like the 98L or 100L with slight customization?

My game is based on:

Topspin forehands, where I love to go for short cross-court angles to pull my opponent off the court.

Sliced backhands, where I need forgiveness to get easy depth on defense, but ideally low, skidding slices that aren't too floaty.

I mainly play on clay courts. I lack natural power.
I’ve read that the Ezone offers more easy power, while the Vcore gives more depth — is that right?

Comfort is also an important factor for me.

As for strings, I’m thinking of trying Poly Tour Air or Poly Tour Rev in 1.20.

Thanks, fellow addicts!

If your forehand is all about spin, I’d definitely start with the Vcore! They’re both great frames, but if you’re playing with an Extreme, I think the Vcore will be an easier switch. Give the 98 a shot first - it’s pretty forgiving and certainly doesn’t lack for power or spin potential.

Extreme Tour >> Transition to >> Ezone 98
Extreme MP >> Transition to >> VCore 100

The Vcore has more natural launch angle - can be lowered with round strings but at some point this trying to lose launch angle can lead to loss of the feeling of bite. The Ezone has less natural launch angle - IMO closer to the Extreme Tour - can be picked up a little with string/tension choices

Start with your current string for first stringing to get used to the racket. Then try Poly Tour Rev 1.20. PTA is a little to vague and disconnected.

I've been using the 25 EZ98 for the past month and it's not what I would consider a spin racquet. Really low launch angle so I've had to make a few adjustments (shaped strings and more whip) but decent power and quite comfortable compared to past generation. Very muted feel. It doesn't bother me but I do notice it.

Srings like solinco tour bite soft or hyper g soft or poly tour rev for Ezone 98 to have more spin ?

It’s kind of funny, right? The Ezone is SUPER whippy and fast, but really isn’t a spin racket, while the Vcore (98/100) always just felt a little clunky to me. Because of that speed, I can generate good spin with the EZ, but getting used to the launch angle is definitely an adjustment. For what it’s worth, the current and past generation of Ezone are some of the best serving frames I’ve ever used.

My favorite was actually Poly Tour Pro mains and Poly Tour Strike crosses, both in 1.2. Kept the racket feeling a little more crisp and less vague-feeling. I never felt like I lacked spin, but I also like to flatten the ball out more.

you find the vcore more clunky than the ezone despite the ezone having the fatter beam?

For the 98s, absolutely. I think the width of the Vcore’s upper hoop is the primary culprit, though I’d guess the Ezone’s super thin throat contributes as well.

To be fair, you could use either. I say this knowing how they perform on clay. I have used an Ezone 98, VCore 95, and 98 on hard courts and clay. To me, the Ezone rackets have varied in feel, ranging from more direct to more muted. I think the Ezone is more controlled spin and power, whereas the VCore is more spin-friendly, and the launch is different. But, as I've said, they can both offer what you're looking for. I have not had a chance to hit with a VCore since the 2020 model and the Ezone. That year, I preferred the VCore's feel, power, and spin to the Ezone.

What you should gather from this is that they make subtle changes to each new generation. I'd say the Ezone usually offers enough in every department to be a good frame for more users, as well as some free pop if you go to the 100. The Vcore is typically tailored to spin, being its main attribute.

I prefer the REGULAR version of Tour Bite for mains and a SOFT round cross. Resulting hybrid has better feel, control, spin and life than SOFT version in full bed. Confidential Full Bed (or hybrid) also works great

I've been using RPM Blast Rough 17g. It helps with spin.

Yeah the Ezone 98 has long been regarded as a great serving racquet but what's weird for me is that for whatever reason I'm not gelling with the 25EZ98 on serve. My serve has never been better than it's been with the 25PD but I had to put that down while I recover from wrist tendinitis which is why I switched. Everything else is fine but I'm not serving nearly as well as I did with the PD.

My serve was faster with the 2022 98, but I have an easier time with placement and spin with the 2025. The 2022 was so damn fast through contact.

ah thats interesting - always felt the vcores were crisper with more feedback whereas the ezones were dead muted boards. Guess times have changed as I've not tried the ezones for the last few revs

Do you have a chance to test them both in your new club? That way you could get the feel from them before making the switch.

Don‘t overlook the Percept 100. It is kind in between Extreme Tour and Extreme MP.
You said, that you like to open up the court with angle shots. This is where the percept 100 shines (building up the point). And also for good slicing, it always helps if you have a racket with good touch and control.
Vcore 100 and Ezone 100 are more power oriented rackets.

My suggestion: Try Vcore 100, Ezone 100 and Percept 100.

Percept 100 is a good alternative recommendation. It clearly has better feel than the others (of the Vcores I only played the current 95), does everything well incl the slice.

I observe most people prefer dense patterns for slicing like I do. So Ezone could be better for this but anyway just try both. Percept 100 is also very open pattern in my opinion but still a good slicing racket.

Why do you have to switch to Yonex because of your new club?
