Vcore Pro 97 H vs Yonex Ezone 98 Tour

Which type of player is each racquet best for?

Background info on myself: a lanky two handed backhand player that is trying to play all a court tennis game. Competes in USTA 4.5 level men’s league.

Sounds like you want to go for a relatively heavier frame? Both good options for an all-court game. I enjoy both of these, but I find the EZT a bit easier to use. Apart from the obvious difference in static weight, the main thing will be the difference in feel. You'd really have to try both out to be sure. For competitive purposes, I'd give the edge to the EZT.

The current vcore pro H has a thicker beam in the throat and an even higher swing weight than the previous two versions. I couldn't play with it at all. I played with the navy 2020 version no issues. Ezone Tour is easier to play with.

Played more than enough with both, strung them, played matches etc. - they are both for competitors really, I don't see any possible gain for an intermediate player. Even for me 97H is too heavy, and I played with 340g Wilsons for 20 years or so. For that weight to make some sense you need 200kmh incoming serves etc. Without that you're just very slow around the court compared to a vcp100 or vcp97. I can easily handle it, but in points play the time I lose on setting up a shot, swinging back and forth, then back to the middle, veeery slow compared to a 305g frame. You quickly feel the extra effort needed on your heart rate too..

Very similar Ez98 vs Ez98T, tour feels massive, stable, and requires long powerful swings. It's approx 313g so if there are no fast incoming balls you can still speed up the exchange with it if you're fit and have the technique, focus and patience. It's not exactly "easy", like Ez98 or Ez100 are.

Having said all that if you're curious go for it. 97H is juicy and meaty feeling, 5 star feel when you smack the ball, won't give you any injuries, it's soft but just right, not too soft. Similar applies to the Ez98T compared to Ez98. String them low.

vcp97 and Ez98 are 5 star racquets though, both, and I don't really see why you wouldn't play with them instead. They are great for all kinds of players and play styles, really well balanced all around frames, many pros play with them stock, no lead even. Although I'd add a bit at 3&9, particularly to the Ez98

They’re going to feel quite a bit different. I’d demo them.

Edit: you made the same post a year ago. Why switch off the DR100?
Wanted more control and stability, DR100 is a great racquet but I definitely feel the 98 Tour can withstand harder hit balls

One is 7 points HL one is 4, that's the deciding factor.
With all due respect, balance alone is mostly certainly *not* the sole deciding factor between the H and the EZT. Mold, layup and drill patterns are different enough to not just be glossed over.

@Troy_Chen - Per @Mischko's post, you might want to consider a lower-spec stick, customized up to whatever level of solidness you need, or just do the same to your DR100's if you haven't already.

Also, how tall are you? I ask because if you're tall enough, you might be better off looking at the EZ98+ or EZ100+, which will give you just as much actual plow-through, but spread over a longer lever that is more in-scale with your frame, provided you are indeed tall enough and have a long enough wing span. Plus, you can get there with less static weight.

If you want to stick to conventional length sticks, besides spec'ing up an EZ98 or EZ100, if you'd be willing to look beyond Yonex, I'd look at the Wilson Shift 315.

I just find it the most interesting adjustment for me, balance.

Interesting take on plus, what height are you considering is tall enough to make the reccomendation?

It's a bit of an "it depends", as increasing amounts of brute strength, fitness and skill level allow for shorter players to wield extended frames just as well (Schwartzman, etc.), but around a 4.5, I'd say 6' or taller, roughly.
