Without giving a way the match: he corrected a bad call on a winner by Soderling at a very critical juncture n the second set of the Barcelona final.
Well done.

edit: Verdasco

Easy to do on clay........and Soderling returned the favor. Never the less its nice to see such good sportsmanship!

Verdasco also applauded a great shot by Soderling at a critical juncture. I wish players did that a bit more but tennis the only sport where that ever happens on the field of battle. Fans should acknowledge/mention these grace notes more often. These guys are all far from perfect but many rise to levels of sportsmanship far above other kinds of athletes on a fairly regular basis.

It was sad though to see them spray the champagne around like 2 schoolgirls though.

Really distastefully executed and sexually arousing.

Agreed. Verdasco's line calls & his constant applauding of Soderling's nice shots was very classy indeed.. And his speech (if you know Spanish, because the Tennis Channel commentator completely destroyed it) was fun but also very respectful.

Agreed. You don't see players in the top ten applaud good shots very often, except for maybe Djoker. ( I may be wrong, as the cameras tend to cut away from exhibits of sportsmanship in most sports coverage, especially football)

But still, tennis does indeed rise to levels of sportsmanship far above other sports quite regularly.

vardasco is a nice guy. is only problem is being in love with nadal.

Don't know if any one saw this in the Verdasco-Ferrer semi-final. David had just smashed his racketout of frustration when he lost the second set, so play started with Verdasco serving and at 15-0 because Ferrer was docked a penalty point. In order to make things fair, Fernando proceeded to serve a double fault on purpose to make it 15-15. I think this kind of action is truly classy and sporting, and Fernando deserves all the success for the rest of his career. Here's wishing him luck for the rest of the season!

Saw that, first I just thought that Double Dasco was making an apperance, but the commentator mentioned the exact same thing as you. Very classy indeed! :)

I do NOT think that any professional tennis player would EVER double fault on purpose no matter who they were playing. That could cost him a match, and because they play for money and not for loyalty it would never happen.

You are thinking like a club player...great with your amateur friends, but in ATP teniis , no way.

The bottom line is $$$$$$$$$$$$$ ...sorry to disillusion you.
