Anyone is playing with hybrid V/poly on clay with a strong spin game?
Does it last long? What cross are you using?

a friend of mine uses v / cream in a dr 98 (I myself too from time to time) . since cream is less durable than other polys it is a toss up if either the mains or crosses break first.
if you are an advanced player don´t expect to get more than 4h-5h out of it (3h or less are more realistic), but no multi /poly setup in an open pattern frame will last long. maybe premier control in 1,40 lasts longer than velocity ?
but performance wise v / cream is a very good and comfortable full poly sustitute

I thought V would last longer than others multi.... Especially the 15L (1.35) gauge (yes it exist in France).
That's not realistic?
I want to try V crossed with Black Zone 17.

yes, v should last longer than other multis (that fray) like for example weis cannon explosive etc., but it is still a multi.
v / bz should be a good combination (tried bz in the crosses with gut not too long ago, to tame the power in my dr 98. gut/cream in the dr 98 is just too powerful/erratic in the summertime.)

BZ is a great cross in any setup, right?

I get longer survival with gut mains than V mains FWIW. Play on Har Tru.

If you want a spin game then shaped poly with smooth poly cross is the clay answer. Have you considered FireWire Boost hybrid? That seems up you alley.

Do you think V 15L (1.35) could not last longer than gut on red clay with smooth poly cross? V is not more durable than HDX?

I was thinking about trying Firewire Boost but before I will try Grapplesnake Cube and Cube Extra Sharp/Liquid hybrid. It is massive spin strings as Firewire Boost but with more power. And better color! But I know Firewire Boost is T1 Firewire main crossed with Ghost Wire. And T1 exist in black...
So many strings, so little time... :sneaky:

For me, cream and Ashaway ZX are the best crosses for not killing your mains or your arm!

I recently did a frame up with zone X and felt it played way firmer than I remember. :weird:

(LT use of ZX will do that to you)

Velocity is more durable than some other multis I've tried - in a *full bed*. But I tried a Velocity/Cream hybrid once and after 90 minutes of play the V mains (16 gauge) were already notched through almost halfway, which was definitely faster than a full bed of V. I don't know how the clay would affect it, but the Cream crosses seemed to be harder on it than V crosses, at least if you hit a lot of spin like I do. Spin was nothing special either. I definitely get more spin from a full bed of poly, or Gut/poly.
