Now THIS is quite laughable! LMAO Even more laughable, than Djokovic losing at 4th round of US Open, where he is on the crazy streak of reaching at least semi-finals for like 10 consecutive years (except for 2017 obviously! But that doesn't count, since he didn't enter it, so the strek remains! LOL) Why would Venus freaking Williams of all people win ANYTHING at all this season, when she pulled out of the 1st round of her pet slam to a schoolgirl again? (no matter how talented she is!) Maybe just MAYBE she can win Hong Kong...but even THAT is doubtful as it would require the entire draw of mugs aged 30+ just like her! LOL Montreal premier-5 tournament??! Good Lord you are way out of touch! This is not even 2016 anymore! Haha

What does you being her fan got anything to do what may or may not realistically happen all things concerned? I am Halep fan and just because she just won Wimbledon i can create a thread, where i predict she will win every single tournament that she entered until the end of the year! Why? Cuz i can! LOL

We're talking about a player who made 2 Slam finals in 2017, the old gal has still got some tennis left in her.

Sure sure...but not reaching premier-5 final, let alone winning it, when you have plethora of girls much younger and tougher like Barty, Halep, Svitolina, Pliskova and others! On any occasion she has to face ANY of those - she will lose these days! That is harsh reality, sorry...

Luckily for Venus, they're as inconsistent as they come, except for Barty, but I feel like she'll be exposed soon.

I really hope she can win a title this year. If she has a good week she is definitely capable of doing it. She still enjoys the game and wants to win. The desire to do well is always burning in her. Even at her age

Consistent enough not to lose to 39 years old grandma! LOL And i don't mean that ALL of them are going to play at later stages of the tournament, but given the recent competitive field, full of youngsters one or two matches against one of them is inevtiable for Venus somewhere down the road! Like i said on ANY of those occassions she will lose badly!

Cos Halep doesn't lose badly at all does she, she's the most inconsistent top-tenner the WTA has ever seen.

In fact, she'll be trying to avoid a 3rd consecutive loss in the first round of the USO this year. At least 'Grandma' makes it to at least R3 every year.

You don't seem to follow, do you? You only like listening yourself, aren't you? I'll repeat the current field is extremely competitive and full of talented youngsters, like Osaka, Barty, Pliskova, even Sabalenka (even though she is non-existent since the endo flast season...) i can go on and on! Even if ONE of them is inconsistent, there will always be another to block Venus from winning Montreal! If not Halep, then someone else! Its not like she is beating everyone these days, but her sister so...

Nope, wrong again. PTF has a higher % of tension loss and less spin than Hyper G 18.
A lot of the Yonex strings don't do well in % tension loss tests done by TWU etc, but they actually retain playability far better than Solinco or Lux etc. If you want the gold standard of tension stability I'd use IsoSpeed Black Fire.

And no, Hyper-G doesn't have as much spin as marketing would have you believe, the industry is moving away from shaped strings as they notch, and moving towards slippery round poly's for snap-back.

I'm not talking about TWU testing I'm talking about my own testing measuring string bed stiffness in my own racquets. I cut my strings out every 6 hours anyway so I don't care about notching or tension loss beyond 6 hours.

Omg you're a real string-ologist, have you tried Poly Tour Strike?

As much as I like Venus I think these predictions are quite bold! I don't think she has a chance at making the WTA finals. She could have a nice run at one of the US Open Series (do they still call it that?) events, but 2nd week in a major is asking a lot of her right now, especially given her form this year.

Unfortunately I'm predicting early exits for Venus is just about every event she plays nowadays. Sure she made slam finals in 2017, but she has been nowhere near that level over the past 2 years. If not for the Olympics next year I think she probably would've retired after last season.

That being said, it's clear that Venus still loves playing. So, as long as she still enjoys it, the results are meaningless, and she should keep playing as long as she's able. She has nothing left to prove to anyone.
