I just looked at the order of play and saw these two will be playing

Their last meeting was in Brisbane...it was a close encounter and Verdasco looked like he was on the verge of winning...

Stats

As you can see in their head to head Steps is 3-0, and their only one encounter in a best of five was a five setter, Verdasco has gotten better and hopefully he wants to avenge what happened in Brisbane

Appearance shouldn't be a factor in who one roots for....that being said Vamos Verdasco!!

I really think the Davis cup win was the making of Verdasco. He has been a different man since. Less impetuous, less angry, more concentrated. And of course hugely talented.

He is schooling "the worm" right now.

I guess something did click in Verdasco's game. It's much calmer in this tournament.
I hope this could be his breakout tournament for which some have waited so long.

no, hes not injured. Verdasco is simply not missing. Hes getting stepanek into longer drawn out rallies and outplaying the worm. Verdasco is in full command of the court at the moment.

yeah, with this performance i would have to take verdasco over murray. that of course is taking into account my total bias towards anyone named anything other than Andy Murray... just too hard for me to cheer for the guy.

hehe me too :mrgreen;,but I think I'm being fairly objective in this case.

Well Seffina, the first set was pretty good actually and Verdasco was constantly being broken only to break right back.Very different picture from the 2 next sets.(also the monfils match was pretty entertaining.)

Maybe I'll watch the Monfils match tomorrow if I have time then.

Nando is wearing Baghy's shirt pretty well. And playing pretty well as well.

must be some lucky shirt!;)

Radek needs to win this last game for at least some honour!Come on!

Go Nando! Hope he goes even further. I only saw the last half of the third set, but it looked like Stepanek wasn't that into the match while Nando was in a zone.

great win verdasco!!!! thank u so much for beating that clown stepanek, now im hoping verdasco can play the match of his life and beat that overhyped bore of a player in andy murray.

after winning davis cup, something has just clicked for verdasco, hope he can get far in this AO. :)
