Versions of Boris Beckers Puma/estusa mold

I think Puma made a few eggshaped rackets with bigger headsize.

Puma Top Pro vs Calflex Puma original mold

I think this X-Tra Power Lite from a national action site is also bigger regarding headsize, than the old Pumas.

head world champion and head puma personal becker have different grommets at the inside. on the world champion racket they are long, sharp and small like any other grommet on a modern tennis racket, on the personal head puma they are the same style as on the puma winner or super rackets.

you have to understand first that the head/puma personal made is a different racket than the World Champion one, its not only proofed by the weight, also by the grommets and the lettering on the World Champion racket. 374 g Personal vs 322 g for the World champion, both without lead.

My friend who worked at Head and was involved into the production also said: Grommets are the same! Beckers Rackets had all grommets flanged because it is more resistant for permanent stringing. The retail only some grommets at the corners as Yonex did at their rackets too. After production they look like normal grommets but after they where installed a hot metal piece is pressed into the hole to flange it. It is a lot of work to do this so the retail does have it only at some grommets.

ok can you explain e why there is a silver puma g. vilas racket with such a long neck before the red plastic cap on top of the grip begins? normally the neck on all g vilas and all winners the neck is way shorter. the neck on the g. vilas boris becker played at wimbledon 1985 is as long as the ones on the super frames!

Originally 66,5cm long (that's why I think it's could be made from the original Puma mould). I extended it to 67,5cm. Weight now ~360 grams. Te main color is gray, not black. Foam filled -at least the handle-, if I remember good.

Dude !!! Man……
THANK YOU FOR POSTING! I’ve never ever seen this before wow!
can you tell us where you found her ? Funny 66 is my fave length on all my frames .

No hitting experience. The Top Pro and the Calflex have about the same stiffness. The G. Vilas Power, which I also have is clearly softer then the two.

Just stumbled into this on Ytube. You don't learn about whether you should play or not play with the Puma Becker today - although the guy who did the video seems to be a nice chap - but there are some really nice footages of Boris and his racket at the end of 1991, probably a Puma with the Estusa logo at the time.

I really enjoyed it in the end.

Some nice side-shots of Becker in action. Of course, he didn't use the Super, but rather the Vilas/Winner which was even more flexible.
