Very important match coming up for Felix tomorrow, if he loses to a player 3 years younger, might never recover

Alcarez is 3 years younger and if Felix allow him to surge ahead then it will very bad for his future....Alcarez looks more muscular too ?

According to the logic of your signature, Felix does not need to beat him. He has earned a lot more in prizemoney + sponsorships.

Anyway, FAA should win. He is serving very well.
My signature clearly says that only ATG players who have a claim over the GOAT status with stats can be compared/need to be compared for brand value/iconic status.

I mean if we compared Fed with Nadal with Novak, all have 20 slams, some feats on their turfs, those type of guys can be checked for who has more fans, who has more influence on the game etc etc ....

But these subjective things come into picture only after one earns his place into that league with the numbers.

Are you using the Federer v Nadal example here? :)
Yes
When Fed failed to beat Nadal on clay in 05-08 period I instantly knew & had predicted on orkut (at that time) that Nadal would win 10-11 french opens, back in 2008

Sometimes we get signs of things to comes, good thing that 3 years is not too much a difference, had it been 4 or 5, would be worse...

So you gave Federer a full four year period, but you are giving FAA just one match to decide his fate?

Me or you are nobody to decide anything on him, his fate is in his hands.
He might even go on to win 25 grand slams, we never know.

I just said he should not lose, keeping edge on those younger is blueprint to success, some specimens have 94.62% win record vs younger guys in slams and thus they are having a lot of slams now, that is the key

Crowd have really rooted for the underdog. More pressure on Felix. Alcaraz in 4.

Edit...Felix has had pressure for a few years now and a loss against Alcaraz will just add to it.

FAA doesn’t seem to do well when he’s in a big match and he is actually the favourite. Such as in the 8 finals he has lost

But then isn't what you saying almost relevant to any match anywhere then?

Every match potentially for anyone could then be looked at as a career defining moment.

If Alcarez wins his first 2-3 slam matches vs Felix then Felix will end up his pigeon for life.
Take this in writing, this is a slam match, not a best of 3.

This is Felix's chance to get over the hump and overcome his mental struggles. I agree, that a loss here might affect him badly. On the other hand, a win here could do a world of good for his confidence and momentum.

That is shocking. That must be close to a record for someone aspiring to be Top 5. He needs to put up some results soon. He was rock solid against Tiafoe. Now he needs to put away the much weaker serving Alcaraz.

Ive just noticed Felix hasnt won a single title yet. He has to win something, even if just a smaller tournament to get off the board.

He just turned 21. Does not necessarily have to win a tournament. Beating Alcaraz and reaching the Semi Final is just fine.

If you look at players similar age Ruud and De minaur they are both 22 have 11 and 15 titles.

OK they'll be smaller titles but it's better than a 0 next to your name.

He just needs 1 or 2 small ones to feel that winning feeling.

I disagree with the OP - if Felix loses he will recover and do well in the future. He's 21 years old. So many of you on here forget that these players are YOUNG. It took several years for both Roger and Novak to emerge as top players, with many ups and downs before they won their first Grand Slam. (Rafa was the exception and won at an earlier stage of his career).

Still I will be rooting hard for Carlos to win the match!!!!!

It’s just one match. 2008 AO didn’t mark the passage of Djoker over Fed

It won’t look bad for FAA at all. He is still very young. And he’s improving every year.

Remember when Federer(born in1981) was being completely owned by Nalbandian(born in 1982)? As a matter of fact, Nalbandian knocked Federer out of both hard courts slam events in 2003(R16 AO and R16 USO). Federer started out 0-5 against the younger Nalbandian. We aren’t just talking about one match; but 5 scarring matches, which include the USO, AO, and Cincinnati. I think Federer recovered from those losses.

Recover from what and for what? He recently reached a Wimbledon QF, which is a good result for him, but usually he loses earlier and generally can lose to anyone on any day. What should such a loss do to him? It would be just normal.

I think psychologically it could be a problem, at least a big set back.

Because when youre considered the new kid on the block talked about for great things, not made the break through yet, and then someone 3 years younger comes along and beats you, thats got to hurt.

Big match for the youngsters. Good to see we're guaranteed a new semifinalist at least. I expect a dogfight. Anyway, the way I see it, loosing to a guy nearing/beating many precocity records doesn't seem that bad.

Alcaraz has announced his arrival and him making a QF of a Slam at 18 has made everyone pay attention. He's going to be very successful in this game I think. Felix is playing very well though and I think will win this and make his 1st Slam SF.

How tall is Alcarez?
He is listed as 6'1 in some places but he seems shorter than Nadal and Federer

I wish he was 6'2 or 6'3, he would have been a Bonafide ATG, these days some height is needed I guess

Good point but Fed had still won titles here nd there, he just had to get physically stronger and fix his mind, he did that and rest followed.

Felix has been a choker in 9 finals till now, that is a concern

Yea I guess he's 6'1, but that's a good height to become an ATG. I would say 6'1-6'2 is the perfect height.

I agree. Must-win match for him. He missed a great opportunity in Australia, he only had to beat a qualifier and an injured Dimitrov and he failed. This is his chance against a 18yo. If he doesn't beat Alcaraz now he may end his career with a 1-20 h2h against him and may never be in a slam semifinal.

Alcarez looks shorter than Fedal is all pics, he is 6'0 but being marketed as 6'1

Stats say that last person below 6'0 to win a slam was Gaudio ....in 04....ancient times

His height is an issue. He may be 6'0 at the most. Definitely shorter than Rafa. Even Stan. Not ideal these days. Maybe ideal in 1980s and 90s.
Need to be taller today if you are aspiring to be Top 3. Just look at Med, Zed, FAA and Berry.

Nah, I think Felix will win but if he doesn't I don't think it will take a big mental toll. Alvarez could just be a flash in the pan who knows
