Very smart long-term investment by Fred

Help boost Tim's confidence by winning 1000. Tim will feel he can do this against Ralph and Nolan in other big events, thus helping preserve slam record.

Trade off of Indian Wells #6 for slam record. Smaht.
As crazy as this is, I have to agree. With Clay season coming up, Thiem may do Rafa a favor by taking out Novak before he gets to Rafa in the French final. and you Know those French tennis federation guys, love rafa so they will put Thiem in the same half with Novak.

I hope you are right! Thiem is the one guy on tour with the speed, the serve, the power groundstrokes and enough variety to take over the top spot. He just needs to develop consistent mental strength, week in and week out. But it does look like he has the game to win on more than just clay. Maybe not grass yet but he’s looking good on HC that’s for sure.

Federer will take out Rafa at the french. You heard it here. He is not boosting Thiems confidence, Federer Believes and his form is looking good, despite the loss today.

LOL,,,,,,,,ROTFL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, RAFA is Scared to death that he will have to play Novak in top form at French final or semifinal. Rafa is getting close to Tanya Harding stage at this point against Novak
If you think Nadal..who has lost less than 10 SETS in over 12 years at French Open fears anyone, even his only GOAT challenger No1e, you are very misguided. Let guys get sets off Rafa on clay first.

I watched thiem win it while i was talking to my coach, and i said this exact thing. He just laughed at me though. 4edChess

Yet Nadal never retires against Novak... but against Roger it seems he doesn’t even want to take court

Yeah, the tactics Fred was producing in those 2nd and 3rd sets were more than just his usual show-off style. Dude was legit going away from the tactics that helped him win the first set.

The most effective tactic he used in the first set, was keeping Tim pinned in thebackhand corner then going up the line with BH or inside in on forehand. When Tim had to hit running forehands he wasn't able to do much except spin them back. When he had time to load up that's when he was dangerous.

I also believe so. Roger Federer can certainly take out Rafa in Paris. Firstly it's indoor, and also best of three. Last year he lost to Novak Djokovic in a close third set. I don't see why Roger can't take out Rafa in Paris masters

Well Rojer obviously can't keep getting away with sending pasta and other investments to Kiki so he's got to find another way to get Team Thiem going.

What if at RG19...

1) This IW19 win over Fedr allows Thiem enough confidence to take out Djoker in the SF of RG19 (Thiem being top4 seed).
2) Nadal loses to a random bc of lack of fitness, etc.
3) Fedr cake walks to the finals.
4) Fedr beats Thiem in the finals showing the 'real' game that he held back from IW19 to give Thiem a false sense of confidence.
5) Profit, RG#2.

Oops! Did I just spill Fedr's master plan?
;)

One one problem here.

Djokovic and Federer are always in the same half... I dare say if Federer is not Top4 seeded.. They may even end up in same quarter:whistle:

Nadal is not scared of anyone on clay. Still an in form Novak can pull it of. Nadal knows it.

Ahahahah

7 all against each other on clay since 2011.

2012 Djokovic played 4 sets against Nadal but was far from winning.
2013: 5 sets Djokovic had the decisive break in the 5th
2014: Djokovic was close to lead 2 sets to love
2015: Nadal got trashed but was far from his best.

Nadal just got destroyed on hard court at the AO 63 62 63.

Novak may be able to pull it of. Not favourite by any means but a good 30%.

I can't see Fed winning the FO. 2% chances.

Nadal and Novak are better than him on clay. It seems Thiem is as well.
I trust in slam-finals-Fed still. Fed lost 10 slam finals (9 to Djokodal, 1 to Delpo), and only once was it in straights (to Claydal at RG2008). Not saying it's realistic, but if Fed plays Thiem in the RG19 finals, I think it's 50/50.. maybe even 60/40 Fed.
