Video Of Some Points

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU. STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER AND GET A LIFE. MAYBE SEEK MENTAL HEALTH ADVICE WHILE YOU'RE AT IT.

Honestly I think these people have some serious issues in their life or have personality disorders.

Look at the bright side... we're not one of them. The glass is most certainly half full, my friend(s).

Yes, easy to post that. But to actually believe it is another thing.

Great post from Trolling 101. If I say, “My success is the result of skill, hard work, intelligence, etc.,” then you label me an arrogant egoist. If I acknowledge the role of luck then you charge me with false humility. A classic I-want-it-both-ways anti-logic proposition straight out of the Trolling for Beginners Handbook. Kudos!

I think you only want to look at things from one perspective. Did you ever consider the possibility that you might in fact be an arrogant egoist? Indeed.

It didn't occur to me because arrogant egoists rarely acknowledge the role of randomness in their success; on the contrary, they spend most of their time trying to convince you of how brilliant they are while downplaying the role of non-controllable factors. I fall in the opposite camp. You can't have it both ways here.

Why do you even bother to reply to him? There have been dozens like him who pop up, find fault with everyone, and self-destruct.

You could be acknowledging it spuriously to not look like an egomaniac.

It amuses me... although I do regret the threadjack element (which I admittedly perpetuate).

More classic trollling, putting one in a position of having to prove a negative which in this case is impossible. Believe whatever helps you make it through the day.

[Although, in fairness, 15-20 years ago your label wouldn't have been too far off the mark. The older you get, the more you realize and accept you don't know.]

Where did I ask you to prove something? More classic trolling by you it seems.

Of course I believe whatever I want, don't we all? Of course my label isn't too far off the mark, you're a pretty transparent guy after all.

So who is traveling to Chicago to play TLM?
emoji41.png

I think it is hilarious that anyone would travel some distance to play a 4.0 level hacker match.

I can see it if you are in the area. When I go to Austin there are a couple of guys there I would hit with, but I am not going there just to play a tennis match.

I understand and agree. But my guess is the upshot of playing will be a fun experience and new friend made, not to mention MASSIVE TTW props! [emoji106][emoji41][emoji108]

Oh, I'll bundle something else into it if I do go. I know some people in Chicago. But if someone has airline miles, and spares a day... it really isn't that big of a deal. It really is just like a road trip for a day.

If you go to Chicago, go eat at Gino's Pizza afterwards and write the final score of your match with tlm on the wall. (bring your a silver sharpie)

There are many players who travel in teams to play USTA 2.5 and 3.0 sectionals, regionals, finals or whatever they are called. It is not about the level, else why should anybody but the pros play? It is about the inner flame.

Well, and the funny thing is, I think it is far more fun (and money smart) to do something like this... as opposed to paying $2k or more per year joining a tennis club where you pretty much hit with the same guys all the time.

Yes in league play if you keep advancing players will travel pretty far, but I don't know anyone that travels over 50 miles or so for a pick up match. I hate that I have to go 30 miles to my indoor club to play in the winter, during the warm months I am 10 minutes from the area outdoor courts.

There are no other clubs within 30 miles of you? That's rough.

Hey I am 10 mins from my club

I used to be 10min from a red clay court but the court is closed now.

Now it's 30-40min to an outdoor court. The good thing is that it is free and has a friendly group of players.

Wow I just watched that video again. These are the guys that would destroy me? That's pretty hilarious Lee, this looks like old mans tennis. Neither can move much and half the groundstrokes are chops and slices. It's pretty obvious that they run to the net and finish the point one way or the other because neither have the conditioning, movement or groundstrokes to play the backcourt game. You know it's bad when a player goes back on a routine lob and falls down.

Imho, you'd probably win based on your movement, but having said all of that I'm tad surprised you don't hit harder/flatter....Just my 2 cents about the lack of offensive weapons (strokes). Other than that great consistency etc! Cheers!

If you look at post 82 I show a clip with some flatter attacking forehands. I have been working on developing better approach shots in the last year or so, which I am using more in matches. But I have found that for me consistent tennis is my best weapon, I only attack when it is high %.

I know everyone wants to hit the big winner shots myself included. But if you are playing against an equal level opponent I have found that I will not win very often using that strategy. Sure there are those days once in a while when you can just rip away and everything goes in, but for me and most rec players those are rare.

My consistent topspin grinding game is almost always there I don't need to be hot that day for it to be on. So I stay with what works, I win a lot of matches were I only hit a few winners and my opponent hits a lot more. But they also make many more errors.

Tlm is going to rekt all the tw 4.0 hacks so bad that they will be in a daze after the match wondering if they are asleep having a nightmare or did 500 moon balls really just destroy them.

Even that is pretty far from perfect compliance..when you need to get hotel rooms and stuff plenty of people balk..

I agree but my point is for league or tournament play I understand people traveling and spending money to play. But your right even then a lot of people will back out. I played on softball teams that advanced to regional tournaments that were like 5 hours away and it was not easy to get people to commit to the time and expense.

The 4.5 level guy that I showed in one of my videos advanced to USTA nationals that was at Indian Wells and he went. But he has no children and lives for tennis, but even then that is a big investment for the average person. But again to qualify for a national tournament may be a once in a lifetime thing that I can totally understand someone not passing up.

I know what you mean, plus I also have a very good example in a friend at the club, who is very consistent (probably a 4.5-5.0) and you can really tell that he respects you when he start mooballing you to death (not me necesarelly ,but some very hard hitters at 4.0-4.5).
