If I remember correctly, Lendl was wearing Australian apparel and SuperGa shoes while playing with the adidas racquet. I doubt that it was just a pj.

It is a long story. Actuall Lendl played with Kneissl racquet and after Ivan signed with Adidas Kneissl continued made racquets for him in Austria w/Adidas pj. Only after several years Adidas began to made their own racquets for Lendl in France, but moulds were the same, probably it was another agreement with two companies. It's a well known story. But there was another one, you can read about it here:

i wish they still made this one:

and one day i would like to remake them:

It's great if you also will remake tennis retro shoes. But it's by far more difficult to make shoes than clothes. Also it will be not so easy to create recognizable shoes without those trade marks stripes, swoosh, etc. These Wilson shoes are a little different story, you just can change small logo.
As well as these Sergio Tacchini:

Or Romika shoes used by Victor Pecci:

Have you tried the new Made in Italy Diadora- Glad to see opening up old factories- Italians have always made fabulous shoes and Diadora was proof of this. New ones are really good, too.

For a year I played with a pair of Dunlop Volley shoes on a clay court.

I read about them and like the design so I bought a pair. Used it everywhere and for everything, including climbing on roofs.

Love the low-to-the ground, soft rubbe sole.

They are terrible on hardcourts, though. Zero cushioning.

They were the iconic shoe of Aussie teenagers in the 70's and 80's and have (very sadly) recently stopped being produced. Dunlop sold to another company who now make what they call the Volley International, which is the biggest piece of **** shoe you could imagine. Not even a pale imitation of the Volley. I was hoping to pick up a pair when I was last back home in Oz but sadly, no luck. It was rather a depressing day because as you say, for everything but hardcourt tennis, they were perfect.

I heard from a few people back in the day that the Tretorn tennis shoes were seriously comfy. I don't know what other experience they had to base those comments on but it always stuck with me.

Tretorn IMHO were as bad as the Stan Smith shoe for comfort. Rubber sole with a thin spongy insole. Polyurethane shoes were miles ahead in comfort. But that was in the late 70s

Borg played due to the contract in Tretorn and in Jockey in Sweden and outside of Europe.

Batas, maybe Rod Lavers. Shoes were soooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad BITD we wore them out in a month or less. Thank goodness duct tape was cheap.

Shoes were also cheap so our power lines are filled with souvenirs, literally littered.

Great picture!
So Rod Lavers were better than Stan Smiths? Look mostly identical.

Lavers have a mesh upper, green poly sole. Btw, wearing a pr of Adidas Advantage shoes now, very similar to the Stan Smith, but has a Cloudfoam insole. Unbelievably comfortable.

I have a few pairs of the Dunlop Volleys. Or so I thought...
Just checked. The oldest pair I have says, "Dunlop Volley". The new one says "Dunlop Volley International".

The back of the shoe looks slightly different but other than that I don't see much of a difference. Comfort-wise they feel about the same.
The old pair I have is pretty worn out. Several holes, sole worn smooth in many parts. I wore it for tennis, walking around, doing work on my roof -- everything. Well no more climbing on roofs in them b/c the sole is worn smooth, now.

I hate teh Lavers. The green sole is way too slick and has no traction The Stan Smiths were much better, but horrible compared to many modern shoes.

I tried wearing the canvas Tretorn shoes for tennis when I was a kid. They were indeed horrible. Poor cushioning and I wore through the canvas upper and bottom soles in about a week.

Dunlop were also canvas top with ankle padding and rubber sole if i'm not mistaken? Classic tennis shoes of the 60's-early 70's.

I want these so bad!!! I remember Jim Courier wearing these, not Boris. If memory serves me well, it should be AO around '91-'93
Yes It's true! Diadora has reintroduced also Jim Courier polos 1991!
Hopefully he will do the same thing with Kuerten and Kafelnikov equipment .... I will contact Diadora on these days, if they answer me ...

Check also track jacket.

I remember the days of the Robert Haillet-Adidas shoe, @$18.00, the Tretorn Leather at $25.00, possibly the most comfy of new shoes. but with only 5 days wear on red clay finances on this were questionable, even the Malmo girls from Sweden. could not persuade me, the Haillet became Stan Smith shoes with blemished shoes for $14.00 were the best deal. Gut was $16.00 strung, a Dunlop Fort was $25.00. and Fred Perry shorts. monogramed at $25.00. from Carl Fix in New Jersey. The new Italian Diadora shoes are also wonderful- plus they will get even better sending back the ignorant CEO's. to selling shoes again on the road until they learn people will pay for quality. I will never forget a clothing salesman who went with a startup shoe company from Korea as a salesman-I bet he made $10 mil selling them- There is still money to be made in tennis. good luck guys.

FYI. I got my Diadora rebound ace and they run large. I wear a 9.5 and had to reorder a size 9.

Also, they added a new Jim Courier polo design just a day or two ago

They actually fumbled a bit, as thru social media I spoke with head of Diadora USA. That version release should have been the Rebound DA (Boris Becker) shoe. The Rebound Ace I have were made for Yevgeni

Then the 9.5 Us (Nike, Adidas etc.) corresponds to 9 Diadora? So the US 10 corresponds to the 9.5US? Thanks

I asked Diadora if other models of the past would also be proposed (eg Kafelnikov and Kuerten); they did not answer me ...

I guess in a lot of cases because of the expired existing contracts they are unable to retro a lot of the signature models or too much red tape to do so.
