Visiting Boca, any tips?

So I just got done booking a spring break tennis trip to Boca. My 10 year old is doing a camp at Macci and some privates. I'd love for our girls to hit around together.
I am also wondering is it possible to tour the USTA training center and Bollettieri? I basically want to see how they train at both places and bring home ideas and incorporate them in my daughter's training.

Sorry, missed your post. USTA Boca is pretty easy to tour. You can literally drive right in and park at Evert's Academy. The office is open most business hours. You should have no problem checking things out. Macci's is close to Evert's.

IMG is on the west coast of Florida, not near Evert's. They have a check in procedure for tours so call ahead there.

When in March will you be down?

Thanks for the info. We will be there 3/19-23. Save the dates :)

I'd love to but TCF informed me they are on opposite coasts. How long would it take to drive there from Boca I wonder?

USTA and IMG are on opposite coasts but every tennis buff should experience IMG. IMG shows best at Eddie Herr - nothing quite like it. I would go a few days before Eddie Herr so you can taste a typical day at IMG.

So many other places near Boca to check out too. Saviano isn't too far from there. Dean Goldfine is building up a reputable program over in Ft Lauderdale (not far from Boca).

e.How good is your daughter?

She is ranked 17th in G10 in her section and ranked 140th in 12s after two tournaments playing up. She won 6-7 tournaments this summer, her first season of competition. Her serve and footwork need a ton of work and she needs more constancy. (if you want to get our girls together when we're in Boca in March that would be cool )

Not sure if time allows but an hour south is Crandon Park tennis center. All 4 slam surfaces, open to the public when tournaments are not there, and for a nominal fee you can play on stadium court where the Sony Ericson finals are played! A nice experience for tennis kids and also motivational.

We'll make the time! Sounds like fun :)

Playing at Crandon a must do and I've taken my jr son and daughter to play on the stadium court every time we get down to Miami. But of you are going to be there March 19 - 23 you can forget Crandon as the Sony Ericsson Open starts 3/19......as for visiting IMG it's about a 5 hr drive from Boca to Bradenton at least, also the area around IMG kinda crappy.
When in Boca it's fun to stop by Stuarts of Boca about 3 min away from Evert's - the place has been there forever and a cool mom and pop tennis shop.

Another must do is to play at Hollywood Park Tennis Ctr in Lauderdale - The Jimmy Evert Tennis Ctr a classic - the area around the park has changed dramatically since I was a Jr playing there in the 70's but still a goto stop for tennis.

Oh yeah, if he is going in March, the Sony will be there.

5 hours from Boca to IMG? Nah. I have done it in 3, mapquest says 3.5. Most of the trip is clear sailing, you can fly across the Everglades on Rt. 75. A few slow spots as you head up the coast and get towards Ft.Myers and then Sarasota.

But with the wife and kids every time we did the drive from the gold coast to IMG with stops (being from Texas we HAD to stop at Trulucks for lunch in Naples when it was the only location outside Houston a few yrs ago) it always took 4 to 5 hrs.

I get ya. I am one of those 'got to set a time record on this trip' kind of guys!
