Volkl Cat 4, Gen II, too long????

Just picked up a Cat 4 Gen II and changed the grip pallet from a
3/8 to a 1/2. Just happen to measure the racquet and it is now
just over 27 3/4 " long! Frame is suppose to be 27.5.

Any ideas on what I might have done wrong? I did line up the butt end of
the pallet flush with the handle.
