I am interested in trying out the Volkl Cat VE based on specs and info I've read here on the TW message boards. Rabbit really seems to be a big fan of the Cat 8 VE. I used the Cat V1 MP for a few months. I liked it pretty well, but felt that I had trouble putting volleys and overheads away with it. Can anyone compare these 2 racquets. None of the tennis shops where I live have any Cat 8 VE demos, so I'm considering buying one based on specs.

I like the Cat 8V a lot more than the Cat V1 MP. Volkl altered the catapult system between the two frames. The Cat 8V stringbed has a much more consistent response. It's the better volleying and overhead frame because of that.
The Cat 8V is suprisingly stable for it's weight, and it's amazingly manueverable at the net. Stock, it doesn't have the volley and overhead put away power of a much heavier racquet - physics, don't'cha know - but does pretty well. Add a little lead tape to the hoop, and put away power jumps nicely.
Those are my impressions, based on my game. Yours, of course, may vary.
