Volkl Cyclone vs V-Torque?

Hey guys, been a user of V-Torque since it came out, but I see the Cyclone is on sale, so it warrants me to give it a try possibly. Can someone who has used both before give me an opinion on them both, and tell me which one they prefer? I really like the V-Torque because I have found no other shaped co-poly to grip the ball like this string, and I like the fact it is low powered.

I use both in 18 gauge. I do find V Torque does grip the ball better than Cyclone. However, Cyclone still provides plenty of spin, more comfort, and more pop. In my opinion, both strings offer plenty of control. I had switched to V Torque but I've gone back to Cyclone in the colder months. I string both about the same tension. They are both great poly strings.

I am using it in a new stick, and i really like the predictability, control, comfort, and touch. Durability is 'normal' for a multi in a cross so far. This could be like a honeymoon with two ladies at once kinda thing though. Must be careful...

Alright, sounds good, what color and what gauge should I buy 4 packs in? I will be putting these on a Pure Drive Play and Pure Storm Ltd. GT.

I've used both and V-Torque is better, if you are looking for spin production. Cyclones is okay. Cyclone Tour is worse.

Haven't hit with the V-Torque so can't make that comparison. But my current string of choice is the Cyclone, I think it's a great all around string.

I'm assuming you are referring to the 4 pk that has 4 different Volkl poly strings so not sure you can choose the color. I would go 17 gauge. More spin and a little easier on the arm. Also, I agree with the post above about Cyclone Tour. It is easier on the arm versus Cyclone and V Torque but I think it has less control. If you try Cyclone Tour, I would go up 2-3 pounds versus the tension of Cyclone and V Torque. Never tried the other Volkl poly so I cannot give any feedback on that one. Another good poly is the new Wilson Ripspin. Enjoyed trying it but I have stuck with Cyclone and V Torque. I use Gosen Micro 18 as a cross string and I still find plenty of control and spin with that hybrid. You cannot beat the price of Gosen Micro syn gut. A great value in my opinion.

I am referring to the buy 4 pay for 2 deal for Cyclone. There is a variety of colors and tensions for that.

Think the red/pink version is the only color on sale. I would try 18 or 17 gauge but just my opinion. I have yellow and bought the red/pink when it was on sale a while back (not my favorite color but the deal was difficult to pass up). They play pretty much the same.

I find the V-Torque to be it bit softer than the Cyclone(both in 17g). Bit more spin potential as well. I do a hybrid with Prince Premier LT17, and the V Torque saws through at a greater rate than the Cyclone. I sting them both at 50lb in a Donnay X-Orange. The V-torque strings a bit easier. More pliable with less coil memory, even with the Cyclone coming off a reel.
