Volkl Cyclone - what is similar?

I've settled on Volkl Cyclone 17 (Black) as my go-to string after much testing. There are only 2 issues I have with it:

1. The first hour of play feels too stiff and under-powered. If I go with a lower tension, it solves this problem but the string bed becomes too loose and launchy from the 2nd hour onwards, which is much worse.
2. I only get 6-8 hours out of 1 set. The strings go dead (lockup + little snapback) after that.

Any of you found another string that's similar to Cyclone I could test? What's your experience with them?

Strings that hold tension longer don't pocket the ball as well. I'd say if you like the characteristics of Cyclone, can't adjust to the tension loss, and you don't break it within 8 hrs., cut it out and string another set of Cyclone at 8.

Round strings are more predictable when they bag out, but they won't give you free spin.

Ytex quadro twist, but maybe even better than cyclone. Lasts well and is soft but yet feels very crisp. Also inexpensive!

Try hybriding it with a round poly in the crosses.

I like regular orange cyclone more than HG or Lynx Tour. The issue with this string is tension loss as many realized it. So I will try Cyclone on mains and Baseline Speed both 1,25mm and see what happen. I dont know if cyclone on crosses will be best for more spin or not? suggestions please?

In my experience Cyclone wasn’t great for spin if used on crosses.

Source:
- tested full bed cyclone vs. cyclone main + ptp cross vs. full bed ptp
- hybrid had most spin due to cyclone friction with ball + ptp slipperiness allowing for best snap back. But had highest launch angle too
- full bed cyclone had best predictability/ consistency, lowest launch angle. Less snapback, least spin also least power (best control)
- full bed ptp had good spin from snapback, high launch angle, least predictability

Thanks for share your expirience. Baseline is a quite dead string, hope that works well with cyclone...
