I playtested the Volkl Tour V-Engine 9 back in the fall of 2004 and didn't have a lot of great things to say about it giving it the following scores:

Overall: 73
Volleys: 77
Topspin: 76
Slice: 74
Returns: 72
Groundstrokes: 74
Serves/Overheads: 74
Touch/Feel: 73
Comfort: 73
Stability: 72
Manueverability: 74
Control: 74
Power: 70

Can anyone compare it to the DNX 9?

Thanks.

Is that really you? It's been a while since we've heard from you tripleb. Take some time off? Getting back into the demoing nightmare. I tried the DNX9 out a few months ago and only recently demoed the VE 9 for the heck of it. And there is no comparison IMO. The DNX9 is much better. While it was probably operator error, one of the few things I disliked about the DNX9 though, was that it was harder for me to hit a more penetrating underspin backhand than with other racquets. I put a little lead weight at 10 and 2 to increase the swingweight and help with stability on volleys. But the DNX9 is a good racquet. NBMJ had an extended hit with it the past year and could add a lot more.

I also noticed in another thread, you were demoing the RDS002 Tour. You'll like that racquet. If you can handle a higher swingweight, that is one of the best racquets in stock form. No real weaknesses.

Yes, it's me. I took some time off from tennis between January and the first of June (I coach a middle school golf team) but I've been posting pretty heavily since the first week in June.

Thanks for the info on the DNX9....I may give it a shot in the future....really like the specs on it.

The RDS002 Tour was a little too much racquet for my game...the weight seemed to wear me down after about a set and a half---especially on my serve where I seemed to lose a lot of racquet head speed---that's not good when I don't have much speed to begin with.

It is very solid and has that great Yonex feel...I'm just a little too lazy to play with that version of the 002---really love the lighter version though. Did a recent playtest (that should be posted really soon) of the 002 and I'm going to try it out again next week comparing it head to head with the O3 White (as well as the Head MicroGel Extreme Pro and Fischer Mag. Tour Light).

Thanks for the input.

yeah T9 VE 16x19 was disappointing for me

I tried but it just didnt work out with these bats.
I went back to my T10 VE MP racquets!
By the way, i have 4 of the T9 VE 16x19 racquets to unload cheaply to anyone who can wield them well ;-)

I picked up a DNX9 and a Tour 9VE 16x19 off the auction site after reading NBMJ's discussion of the DNX9. Didn't like either one till I cut the strings out and restrung them both with Forten Sweet 16 @ 54 lbs. Really like both now. IMO
DNX9- more pop, less feel, smaller sweet spot than Tour 9VE. Prefer to hit with the Tour 9VE but the DNX9 may get better match results.
