Volkl frames: weight distribution comparison

This board seems especially fond of fighting over one another's demo impressions. For some strange reason, Volkl's 10 series is one of the favorite battlegrounds. You should still do and trust your own demo experience, but GIVEN THE NUMBERS - what do we know?

Assumptions:
1) Uses TW specs
2) Assumes you hit at the center of precussion, which varies from frame to frame due to weight distribution/balance/swingweight. Here, a bigger number means a higher sweetspot.
3) Recoil weight is, roughly, an arm saftey metric. Higher is better. Do a search.
4) Hitting weight is, roughly, a power metric. Higher is better. Do a search.
5) Hitting weight makes no assumptions about how much velocity (and therefore momentum) you can bring to the table. Do a search.
6) Both consider weight distribution ONLY. Not flex, not string pattern, not headsize, etc.
7) The tennis ball still weighs about 60 grams.
8) O3 Tour and Pure Drive standard are in the mix for comparison's sake.

You should draw your own conclusions, but what I get out of this whole exercise is there *might* be a perceptible difference between any of the 10 series frames - but not much. Also, the C10PT and BB10 stand measurably outside that tight cluster.

These things really run in cycles around here -- everytime a new Prestige is released it sets off a frenzy, the word "nCode" dominated the charts for awhile, and I'm sure another pandemic of Yonexmania will break out any minute ...

I tried one, and it's going to be my main racquet for now. Comfort and control were the first two things that popped into my mind when I started hitting with it. Other racquets have a "harsh" feel to them compared to my Cat 4 Gen II.

I know how you feel, bro. There I was, basically demoing a C9 and then, next thing you know, I'm trying to score a C10 on the street corner. I search that world famous auction site looking for old Volkls now.

Yeah, Volkl will give you the first one free, but after that, you're addicted. You gotta have that flex, that feel. From some people's vantage point, it's all about prestige, but that ain't it. It's about the flex. Those squares who don't do Volkl think they're noodles. But we know better. And those of us in the club, we try and get others in the club as well. It's the feeling that you get with Volkl....a tennis high that is unmatched. Does anybody think it's a coincidence that they named their string pattern PCP by accident? That's part of the addiction...

Volkl's are gateway rackets. I was a C10 user for years. Now, I have to have the V-Engine thing. It's even gotten so bad that I have to have a PowerFibre fix. Hell, I've given up Metamucil in favor of PowerFibre. Where will it all lead? This DNX additive scares me because it may be even more addictive than the Big Grommets, the V-Engine, or the PowerFibre. Volkl's also got this thing, V-Rexx. Man...that stuff is supposed to be like BB Alu, only better.

I find myself waking up in a cold sweat at night, wishing I had a BB 10 to demo. Boris Becker left professional tennis to become......The Pusher Man.

Not at all. I owned both at the same time at one stage (but sold the PD eventually). The t10vemid gives great power compared to the PD on groundstrokes and falt bombs. I also generate spin effortlessly. Put it this way, playing with the PD was like riding on a bucking bronco, you never know what's you can control. Playing with a Volkl is like riding a pedigree stallion - it goes where you want with ease.

I agree with Rabbit, playing with a Volkl is like a drug! Once you try it, you're hooked! Nothing comes close to its flex and buttery feel. Nothing. I love my C10 Pro and T10VE Mid. The next thing I want to try is the DNX10.
