Volkl gut crosses eating up kevlar mains?

Anyone experimented with Volkl V-Icon gut as crosses in a hybrid setup? I tried it with my Ashaway kevlar mains setup, and it chewed up the kevlar in about 4 hours. The Volkl is kind of an oddly stiff string with a hard yellow shell; feels crisp and responsive.

I've experimented with lots of different crosses in this setup, but have never seen anything like it. Anyone recommend a favorite gut for a similar setup?

In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I'm 4 sessions (approx 8 hours) into my experiment with this string combo. Strung kevlar mains at 60 and Zyex crosses at 40 Lbs (in my Angell 95). Wow!!! Easy spin, with proper technique. Extreme control. Absolutely 0 discomfort. I can't recommend this combo highly enough. There were a few...

That's been my benchmark cross. I like it a lot but it seems to only hold usable tension and elasticity for 4-6 hours.

If you thoroughly prestretch both the kevlar and the zx, it doesn’t lose any noticeable tension and you can play it until it saws through the cross, which takes me about 100h of play for 16g.

It's a new one on me too, and it wasn't a fluke break either. All the mains in the sweet spot were tattered badly.
