Volkl Super G 10 (325g) string experiments.

I just traded for a Super G 10 which cam strung with Volkl Torque 1.23 in the mains and Kirschnaum Max Power 1.25 in the crosses. Both at 53 pounds. I'm really enjoying the racquet, but will probably want to restring soon. Am considering a gut/poly hybrid and would be interesting in hearing others' experience with this excellent frame. Thanks!

I have been playing with this stick and am really enjoying Luxilon Element 16L. I'm stringing it in a full bed around 48 lbs.

I also have one strung with Volkl cyclone tour 17 at 50 lbs, and one strung with Volkl V-Pro 16 at 48 lbs.

Pacific bull gut 1.3 is great if you want a really soft feel. Bi Phase 1.3 is also very nice. Then for something a little firmer, Solinco vanquish 1.3 multi filament makes the racquet play crisper, same with HDX. For something even firmer you can go Volkl Cyclone Tour.
Most strings go well with this racquet becsuse it's a high quality for frame with excellent dampening and feel.

Thanks. The frame feels quite flexy to me so I can see why these copolys would work well. What kind of life do you get out of the Luxilon?

Thanks. I'm contemplating a hybrid with natural gut. Any experience? I've been told that Ashaway Monogut ZX works well as a cross with VS mains.

The problem I,ve had with hybrids is that the firmer string will get through the soft gut quickly. Other then that, it's a good feel.

I have a pair of O10 325g's which I've tuned by adding a little lead at 3/9 o'clock and enough on the handles to get the balance back to around 10 pts. HL. The customizing really brought the feel of these frames to life for me and they give me a bundle of spin and control like this.

While my soft and cozy Volkl C10's can be okay with a poly hybrid at moderate tension - poly tensioned in the mid 40's - I generally love stringing my O10's with 17 ga. syn. gut at perhaps 57 lbs. In the middle of the summer when it's really hot out there, I might switch to 16 ga. syn. gut that doesn't soften up as quickly in the heat. Works for me.

fuzz nation, thanks for your reply. I'm curious as to why you like syn. gut at relatively high tension in this frame? It does play nice and soft even with a poly
strung in the low 50s. Do you find that the syn. gut gets it to play more crisply?
