Hello NobadMojo or other Volkl expert,

My son has two Volkl Tour 10 MP Generation II racquets. He is 17 years old and is Top 10 in our country (Ecuador) 18th and under category. I need to buy him a third racquet. Tennis Warehouse sells them but I have a concern: I remember I saw a thread where it was mentioned that there are different specifications of this racquet depending on the purchase date. I don´t remember when I bought the racquets, but they have the following cosmetics:

In black: VOLKL TOUR 10
In silver, small letters: GENERATION II
In silver, small letters: PRECISE FRAME
In red: Mid Plus

It also has printed: 16x19, 98 IN2, 11.5OZ, 1.3IN HL, 20MM, 27IN

Could someone tell me if the racquets that I can find in TW have the same speciafications?

Thanks, Alberto.

I believe the red Mid Plus was supposed to be an earlier version with slightly higher swingweight. I have two of these, and they do weigh around 12.4 with the Volkl absorber and one overgrip. I am not 100% sure on the SW though as I have only used them a few times.

Hi betoje....Congratulations on your sons tennis..he's a really good player. Is Andres Gomez a hero there?
You have the earliest version of the Gen2. The latest have the 'MidPlus' in black not red, and the Generation II and Precise Frame designations have been removed. I havent hit one of these for a while, so dont know if they changed again. I dont think TW would have any with the old graphics but it wouldnt hurt to ask...the oldest ones felt a bit heavier than spec ...Suggest you weigh the two frames in original form and have TW pick you closest available match to what you have or maybe you can locate these used with the older graphics. This is the best you can do I think and hope that both the scales are accurate.

why don't you call tw and ask? they have a 1-800 # so they pay the toll charges.

800 numbers don't work from overseas, so it's not a toll-free call for the OP.

betoje - the red color ones are difficult to find new (since they changed the spec). I have a used one that is like new, if you cannot find brand new ones, and the pro shop at my club also has a used one, though it seems to have had more use than mine. If he's going to stick with that model, I would recommend picking up a few to have as backup frames.

Thanks everybody for your responses.
As I said we live in Ecuador and we don´t have demos and it is difficult to find endorsements. Now that I know that my son is using a racquet that changed specifications I prefer to explore changing him racquets. Buying three new T10MP Gen II seems to me too expensive (at 160 each). Considering the specifications of the racquets that he has being using for almost 2 years, could someone suggest me the logical change path? Maybe the new DNX frames.
Alberto.
