Volkl V1 Classic for one-handed backhand

Hello,

Play testing now and love Volkl's V1 Classic. Dubbed "the original 'tweener" this frame is 102 square inches and weighs in at 285 grams with a balance of 325 mm. I like it a lot but have reservations of it's large head size for my one-handed backhand. Any thoughts and can one-handers comfortably play with oversized racquets. ETA: 4.0 NTRP, 49 years old, primarily doubles player, switching racquets for the first time in seven years.

I think you could use the V1 Classic for a one handed backhand. My only reservations is that for a 4.0 player in his late 40’s that the V1 Classic at 285g is going to be too light. Did you buy the all black paint job version of this frame? It is comfortable for a 68 ra frame but I would be inclined to go for a V1 Pro especially if you can find an Organix or Super G version which I believe is the better generations,

i picked up one of these when i noticed the murdered-out paint job. its actually fairly stable and forgiving for its weight (much more so than a blade 98L, for comparison). i dont particularly like the volkl grip, but thats been my only gripe. i say give it a whirl.

I ised the V1 Powerbridge MP for a while, also leaded up a bit. 49 years old, single handed backhand. Lovely racquet, though at that time (4 years ago) a bit too much power, especially when not using full poly. I sold it, but perhaps should have given it a bit more chance. I was changing racquets a bit more often then. Very comfortable and stable for it’s weight, I reckon the V1 classic will not be much different.

ps: you may give ProKennex a look as well. Have been using the Kinetic Q tour 300 for quite a while now, bery satisfied with it. Only added a leather grip

I'd read that some people felt that the even to slightly HL balance made it tough for 1-handed backhand players to swing. If you take the racket back correctly, it should be stable, easy to handle, and feel great. If you try to handle it like a racquetball racquet, you won't like it.
