Volley or Grounides 1st against the wall?

I played 2hbh and volley with eastern grip on forehand side and 2 handed on the backhand side.
If I were to hit with the wall, to learn 1hbh to volley with continenal grip and (whatever) grip for 1 hbh.
Is there a preference that I should volley or hit groundies 1st to get a better feel for the ball and control proceed to do the other?

I like to get to the courts early, before my practice partner and warm up on the wall.

First I do some jumprope then I pue a 12 inch target on the wall and practice groundstrokes- hitting at the target with forehands and backhands.

Then I do volleys- stand about 7- 8 feet back from the wall and hit to the target going back anf forth forehand/backhand.

Then I practice overheads- hitting about a foot or two in front of the wall, the ball bounces up against the wall for a nice "lob" effect. I practice forehand and backhand.

Then I practice serve- also aiming for the target.

Sometimes I practice serve and volley.

Then I go out to the court and practice serving over the net wit a bucket of balls.

By then my partner arrives. We practice for a while-crosscourts, down the line, volleys and lobs... and then play a couple sets.

You should use a continental to a eastern grip for your volleys. Practicing slower volleys might be good, but slower ground strokes might be good too. Just make sure you don't hit really fast when you start off, you are just going to miss alot and get frustrated, unless you are that good.

You arn't stating your question very clear. The title is very direct; however, once you begin explaining each grip you use your statement looses clarity. The correct answer to the title is Groundies first, volleys second, volleys have more complex timing issues against a wall than groundstrokes do.
