Vortex Tennis Racquets

Just came across this thread.

I demoed the es 100 the tour 100 and the tour 95.

I think I like the tour 100 the best with the ES 100 just behind .

It's a tough choice......the es 100 feels a bit flimsy compared to the tour 100......
But the es 100 is so easy to handle and it's longer and more powerful.

For now the tour 100 has a bit of an edge .....I have different strings in them so I have to match them to see the final verdict.

The bottom line is that I LOVE these sticks. Best technology I have seen in years. I'm switching to Vortex for sure ( unless this is the honeymoon period? ).

LOL, we just had a back and forth on the Tour 95 yesterday, starting from around here. it's not a honeymoon period: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showpost.php?p=6915566&postcount=10315

i love my Tour 95, and would like to try the Tour 100 and Pro 100. i won an ES 108 from the auction site out of curiosity and while entertaining to hit around with, it seems a bit flimsy, but comfortable on the arm like the Tour 95. i went to the owner's house to pick up my frame and he's absolutely one of the nicest guys.

Funny you should say that!

I am a a donnay pro one user and have dropped it for the vortex .

It's been an odd transition . I started out with the 18x20 and found it to underpowered . Then switched to the 16 x 19 pro one and like it a LOT better even though I lost a bit of control .

I then tried the Vortex es 100 and found it a bit too powerful. So then went to the Vortex tour 95 and I found it extremely similar to the pro one 16x19 with a tad more power.

Then I tried the Vortex tour 100 ......it was a case of Goldie licks finding the right
Poridge. ( by the way what the hell is porridge anyway?).

The Vortex tour was just right . The string pattern starting from the donnay pro one 18x20 to the super open string pattern is what makes all the difference between these sticks.

I'm really in love with this tour 100......to me it's a lot better than the 97.....but I've always played with a 98 inch racquet or a 100 inch so it makes logical sense .....95 has always been a bit to small of a head size for me.

Having said that ......Vortex is coming out with a new PRO 100 stick as you say......and they are also revising the tour 100....so the jury will be out for a while.

Can't wait.....right now though the tour 100 seems like the front runner for me.

I'm interested in a review. Thanks!

Decision is in.....I chose the tour 100.

It's right in between the ES 100 and the tour 95.. It's just right.

I'm not going to even bother with the Pro 100 because from the specs it's a very thick beam and similar to the es 100.

So I found my "Holy Grail"..... I'm very very happy with the tour 100.

I doubt I will be looking for another racquet for a very long time .

whats the spec spec for the tour 100 ?

whats the spec spec for the tour 100 ?

That's the million dollar question! It's a mystery ....no one really knows.

The website is just so horrible that there's no way to tell. There's no specs listed for then tour 100 and the specs for all the racquets are in correct.

However I called vortex and asked them what the specs were and they said :

"same as the tour 95 just a little lighter".

Here's the write up for the tour 95:

"The Vortex Tour 95 is our premiere players racket. Sporting a thin beam of 21.5mm, and 12pts HL unstrung, the Tour 95 is extremely maneuverable.  Combine this with an open pattern of 14m x 17c with a 70#RA stiffness, creates a powerful stick with extreme spin.  And at 11 ounces unstrung has plenty of weight to plough through heavy balls.

Length: 27 in.
Weight: 11 ounces unstrung
Balance: 12 pts HL unstrung
Pattern: 14m x 17c
Flex: 70#RA
Beam: 21.5mm straight beam "

Well I did not think they could improve on the ES 116....I was wrong .

They came out with a Pro 116 which is just amazing . It’s a lot thinner than the ES .....the serves are nothing short of amazing .

I also cheated and had vortex extend the length for me to 31 inches . My serves are way more consistent .

O.K. Got 20 mins on a wet Synthetic Grass court. Best part was depth with topspin. Outside sweet spot was dead. I didn't take too many slice backhands so, hard to judge.
Serves were easy and a little extra spin but, nothing dramatic. I will be adding an a thick grip as they sent a 4/1/4 instead of a 4/3/8.
I will update as time on court continues.

Further play tells me that, it's most striking feature is depth of ball. Added depth and extra topspin make it a winner.
Anything you get for free in a racquet is special. Strung at 50lbs with NRG2. I ordered a used pro 116 that came with poly. Unfortunately it also came
with a 27 inch length. I will hit Sunday and report on how poly makes the racquet diggerent.

The more I play with the 29 inch model the more I like it. It's light weight and open string pattern are a joy.
Anyone who feels these advantages are minor does not know what they are missing.
