Only a Nadal fan would vote for anything but the AO final, which was five sets, full of undulating play and complete drama in the fifth set. The other three slams this year were devoid of any drama (unless it was Cilic crying) and just straight-sets shellacking. I don't understand why people can't separate their personal prejudices when answering the question. I didn't like the outcome of the 2008 Wimbledon final, but that was obviously the best slam of '08. Roddick fans (if honest) would also know that the '09 Wimbledon final was the best slam that year.

Seriously, who could possibly think the boring USO final with a terrible finalist (Anderson) is superior tennis to the AO final? It's just ludicrous fanboyism.

Or because people are invested in different things. You know, different strokes for different folks? What makes people happy in a different ways? etc etc

AO was a highly competitive Slam. The rest of them, which includes Wimbledon, were semi or fully vultured. I belittle people for having an opinion that vultured Slams are better. It has nothing to do with sucking Fed's nuts, Petchey.

Talking about vultured slams coming from a Djokovic fan lol

Come on. Seriously?

Does the OP poster mean objectively? Or based on whether you like Fed or Rafa?

If objectively - "what was the best match to see for it's tennis"...only the AO makes any sense. That's obvious right?

Look, I think the Wimby final was the most boring and I'm a Fed fan. Though I admit I didn't watch LA Decima, so maybe it was the worst, but hard to imagine a less in doubt final than Blisterer - once that became clear.

AO 17 was history making like the others, but it obviously had the most compelling drama for any neutral fan.

Amazing tennis from both guys from beginning to end. 5th set one of the most dramatic "moments" in the history of the sport.

26 point rally one of the best ever displays of what makes both these guys GOATS. Many great points on either side.

No other GS final this year comes close.

Considering he always went through Federer/Nadal/Murray/Wawrinka to win his Slams, I have no problem with bringing up vulturing. Now remind us who just won a Slam without facing a single player from the top 25 LMAO.

1. Australian Open- one of the best slams of the decade. So many memorable matches and mini story lines- Murray and Djokovic getting upset early, Zverev and Dimitrov taking Nadal to 5, Federer storming over Berdych and then braving 5 set matches with Nishikori and Wawrinka, all of this of course culminating in the amazing final.
----huge gap----
2. US Open- what a whirlwind this tournament was. We didn't get to see many of the best players, but the drama was in full force with Nadal and Federer facing trouble early on, and the other half experiencing just a baffling evolution of the draw. Shapovalov and Rublev break through.
3. French Open- an interesting slam in that we got to see Nadal in perhaps his best clay form ever, along with the emergence of his seeming successor on the surface, Thiem.
4. Wimbledon- Very nice to see Federer take the record for the most Wimbledons, but the only other thing to see here was yet another early exit from Rafa, and possibly the most dramatic one yet with Gilles Muller keeping it ice cool to win 15-13 in the fifth.

Difficult for any of us to be truly objective here, but just curious to get people's thoughts and to see what they really think. That's why I've left it open-ended and not defined what I mean by "best".

You were right the first time. I just get annoyed with the troll word. I was joking, not trolling. :p For me, Australia is obviously the cream this year. but I believe somebody can have a different opinion for any number of reasons. Maybe they were there in person or something.

Can't remember France or Wimbledon and was zoning out of US Open.

Wow, just once. Btw Andersoon took peak Djokovic to 5 sets at Wimbledon lol so you shouldn't try that card.
Murray beat peak Nadal at Slams twice but that's not stopping you from laughing at him when he losses to Novak.

Take a little break from your Djokovic obsession, this is about best slams of 2017.

The USO final was full of drama. The AO final ended with the wrong result. As Federer once said, it's not always the best player who wins the match.

I actually read this wrong, and assumed you were just talking about the finals. Sorryyyyyyy. This is actually a very worthy conversation to have, and they all had some amazing matches, but I still think Australia wins because it's the one where the most top guys were playing well too, yet you also had your dramatic upsets and whatnot. It also has the advantage of the strong final. All the great tennis in the world is nice, but if it all sputters out with a whimper then that's disappointing.

I voted for the AO, no?

USO. Just ahead of FO. While La Decima historically will be remembered far more than anything else that happened or happens in 2017 the USO was made memorable by Nadal proving critics wrong forever and the brilliance of Del Potro

AO is the least prestigious slam though.

I didn't look at who voted for what at the time. Sorry for accidentally calling you a troll then. ;)

US OPEN

It's held in the best country in the world, and a lot of surprising events happened. I'm gutted that Nadal won, but props to him and all the great players at the tournament!

As much as I've been waiting for Fed to finally hold numero ocho at Wimbledon I have to say the Australian open was far superior, it's just great that as a Fed fan I have two GS to choose from :D
