Walked Out On Ford vs. Ferrari

about an hour in.....why?...two reasons

1. Theater either not paying heating bills or forgot to turn it on, but must have been below freezing...was dressed for winter but it wasn't enough

2. I simply couldn't take the massive audio overload of the racing scenes...like being in first row of a heavy metal concert, w/o earplugs

my first time in a theater in a while so disappointed....won't say it's a bad film though, many here would probably enjoy it....would like to see The Irishman, has anyone seen it?

Who cares about Jimmy Hoffa ??
A bunch of crinkled up phonies pretending to be tough and gangsters ??
We have seen the same movie 10 times

Sounds like the theater was a problem. Thats too bad. Personally I do hate if a movie is too loud, too. It needs to be loud enough to silence and muffle the other theater goers, but not loud enough to ring my ears.

I watched that movie and loved it. It really tells an amazing tale that many people may not know about. Long though. May want to bring a blanket.

Given that you go on an on like a broken record, I would have thought you would have appreciated repetition.

(And yes we do get that you don't care much for Robert de Niro's non-acting abilities, but them's the breaks).

Roger Waters is pretty creative

The Irishman is excellent.

I see the usual who cares about Hoffa rant. I don't particularly care about Hoffa either but the performance of Hoffa was sweet.

love a gritty underdog story about an upstart billion dollar company that's 100 years old
The story is more about Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. I dunno why they named the movie Ford vs Ferrari. Marketing? Ford are kinda the antagonists in it.

I guess the Ford and Ferrari rivalry is what set everything in the story in motion.

As a Formula 1 junkie, the movie was a big OK. So far, most of the non-racing fans seemed to enjoy it more that the hardcore race fans.

People prefer their "bromance" movies dressed up with some fast cars ?

Fast & Furious: Vin Desiel / Paul Walker
Days of Thunder: Tom Cruise / Michael Rooker

I guess so. That is pretty much what this movie is. But with more basis in reality I guess.

The Irishman, has anyone seen it?
It a Netflix production and was in limited theater release. Netflix has decided to take it back to releasing it on their Netflix site after it has made the rounds of the independent theater circuit. Some movie critics give the reason that Netflix decided to stop a more general theater showing is Robert DeNiro the star of the Irishman is not compatible to the movie main audience for a gangster type movie. It is based on DeNiro’s political views.

I should add the hour I took in, outside of the cold and noise, I wasn't overly impressed with either...I read all the great reviews, saw that you didn't have have to be a gearhead to like it so was reasonably confident, but it just was a little formulaic...seems like so many of these sports-themed movies have a straight line back to Rocky, which I loved as a kid....but yeah, the underdog taking on the big dog...dialogue wasn't great shakes either

one preview interested me, and that's Clint Eastwood's "Richard Jewell", about the guy who was wrongly accused of the Atlanta Olympics bombing

p.s having not been to the theater in a while, happy with my big screen at home, I got to experience the seemingly endless amount of previews and commercials, almost tempting you to yell at the screen, "Start the movie!"

It was a small theater/ice box :)

We sat in the middle, the only two people there at the noon showing, and the speakers were just overwhelming it

Should have asked for your money back... or earplugs.

So, what was it about (the story, not the walking out issue)?

Would have been more interesting to see the Lamborghini vs. Ferrari story. Ferruccio Lamborghini famously had service and mechanical problems with the Ferraris he owned, went to visit Enzo Ferrari to discuss it, and was essentially thrown out of the office as Mr. Ferrari declared him to be a "tractor builder" which of course he was. Lamborghini vowed then to build cars that would be superior to the Ferraris. Wounded Pride (as in the current film, when Ferrari declares Henry Ford II to be the second, not the original)

A couple of days ago, Adam Carolla was on the KROQ morning drive show to talk about his 2016 documentary on the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari. Carolla is nuts about autos, and recently sold a vintage car for a little over eight million dollars. He bought it a few years ago for a little over four million dollars.

The kid I’m the movie was SO annoying, it’s unbelievable. I literally cringed at how much the kid was overreacting to his dad going in circles, but I guess that’s something of the times?

You have it backwards. Netflix hasn’t “decided to take it back” and release it instead online. Netflix is a streaming company and the only reason it does these limited theater releases is to qualify for an Oscar, which you still can’t do without some theater release though I don’t know the specific rules.

Call me retrograde but I can't stand surround audio systems we now have in every theater. If there's a storm in the movie I don't want to experience what it's like if thunder struck right next to me or to hear what it's like if T-Rex roared in my ear while I'm trying to stomach Jurassic Park XV. Not to mention that in most cases, dialogue is barely audible just to be cut with soundtrack played as loud as if the symphonic orchestra is banging on my ear drums.

Sounds more like the theater sucked and not so much the movie. Find a updated theater and go see the new Star Wars when it comes out!! ;)

Its not his politics, its how he presents them.

Always seemed odd to me that somehow a company that at the time was the I think the 5th largest company in the entire world was looked as an underdog little man. Not to say the movie is bad or the situation is not a good story, but if Ford wanted to build cars to win a race nothing was going to stop them.

They still get doubted even today. As recently as 2016, people still didn't think Ford was going to do well, and yet they won their division at Le Mans.
