Was murray an all-time great?

You mean in the period when the Big all collapsed simultaneously?

Saying Big 3 era only serves to mask this fact.
Nah, Djokovic was good that year, his paz y amor peak was yet to come.
In fact Djokovic's year-end 11k points would have been enough to be #1 in several other years.

Murray had like 12k points end of season, that's par for the course for a big 3 era number 1.
Djokovic wasn't good after RG 2016 anymore. He clearly entered a slump that would only exacerbate in 2017.

And Murray didn't even have to play him until the very end of the year anyway.

I mean Nadal has done f*ck all after RG many a year and that has never stopped him from being a strong #2

and hey, at least mandy beat him in the end (and everyone else en route to that title)

Nadal and Djokovic are 2 different players.
no ****

novak still won 2 slams, 4 masters, reached a bunch of finals - it was tough to match that and mandy did it (well maybe not quite in the title department, but he did beat him in points so there's that)

Nobody else managed to do anything similar since old Rog' took the throne (other than the two usual suspects), so credit to him.

True.

Compared to that Stan is greater.
He has a winning Grand Slam H2H over Murray.
He is the only other Non Big 3 dude to win the french Open in the last 16 years, Nadal 13, Federer, Djokovic and Stan 1 each..... an elite league to be in.
He is the only person to have genuinely challenged Djokovic and also did beat him at the Aus Open where Novak is an 8 time champ.

Stan's feats are greater than Murray's in Grand Slams.
