Was Nadal simply not motivated enough to break the slam record?

Nadal is an incredible player and seems like just a really great person. He appears very humble and modest to me of the court, and I love his life philosophies off the court. I’m sure he would enjoy to have the slam record, and it appears he has tried to get it, now bypassing WB to attempt to enhance his chances at uso. I would like to see him win again and up the record, well deserved. I think though that his body may not be up to the task any longer. Just a great ambassador to the sport, all the good things coming his way in life, he has earned. But yes as a competitor, he must want the record.

Novak is way more driven than Nadal. I don't buy that for a moment. Marriage says nothing about who is driven or not - it's more about lifestyle and the kids/travel etc.
What hurts Nadal most is his parochial thought process. A Spanish coach ALWAYS, no international guidance, never thinking out of the box - no experimentation with equipment, technical changes, schedule etc.
I mean let's be honest - Nadal is a Spanish clay courter who was talented enough to expand his game to other surfaces. He never morphed his game to become a truly aggressive fast court player or have a big serve. You can't be GOAT with a crappy serve and bad ROS.

Novak tried with Becker, Goran, Todd Martin etc etc and evolved his game with Neo serve+ netplay.. Fed has had numerous international coaches including ljubicic who was responsible for Fed winning 3-4 more slams, neo backhand and beating Nadal.
Against this, what has Nadal done? He's fallen behind. Realistically he will finish comfortably behind Djokovic and Fed in the BOAT/GOAT conversation.
He got moya in, who i thought helped him play really good attacking tennis at wimbledon the other year, but because he didnt win overall that year everyone panned moya.

Rafa would have 30 slams if there were 2 on clay lol. It's actually remarkable that Djokovic is favored more on 2/3 surfaces and is still just now catching up. The epicness of Rafa :D
Yeah, yeah. 47 grand slam titles.

Based on what? If the second clay Slam was at a place where conditions played like at Madrid, Federer and Djokovic would actually be tougher obstacles for him in that tourney.

Nadal has 5 titles at Hamburg/Madrid compared to 10 at MC/Rome and 13 at RG.

Conditions matter; USO and AO play differently as well.

Please dear god give us Djokovic-Nadal for 21 at USO there will never be a higher stakes tennis match for the rest of history. Literal fairytale stuff come to life. The spectacle and drama of that match would be so epic. I want this so badly that I’d rather have that match up and have Nadal win then not have it at all it’s just way too epic to not happen.

If I have to explain it, it's not worth it  even if he only won half af much as he did at the FO, it would be an extra 6 or 7 slams, and there's nothing that shows conditions would outweigh it being a BO5, which to this day, he's still only lost 3 BO5 matches on clay in his entire life. If another slam played like it did at RG, sure.
