Watson Vs Robson 2014

Which of Britains leading female players do you think will have the best 2014 season?

Based on their matches in Melbourne I would say Watson has the biggest chance of ending the year as British number 1. She won 14 games to Robsons 3 and actually took a set of her opponent.

I know Robson had less matches under her belt, but I get the feeling that now Watson is past her glandular fever she has more potential than Robson.

I don't think so, not in the long run. Robson needs to become more fit and address her mental side but I think she has more talent than Watson.

I agree on that part, but people have been saying she needs to get fitter for a couple of years now and she hasn't.

Yeah, I am not sure what the reasoning is there and why she has not worked on her fitness and movement more.

Watson is a consistent all rounder (reminds me of Ferrer) but Robson has far more potential and bigger weapons.

But her fitness/mental side/consistency is what hurts her.

Heather Watson has just won a "2nd tier tournament" which I think was part of the ITF and has risen up from 161 to 122 in the rankings.

i hear she also won 4 matches in the Fed cup last week giving her 9 straight wins since the Australian Open.

Good start to the year for her and with all those first round exits last year she should be getting more points with every tournament.

heather Watson had mono last year, laura robson just returned to training after a wrist injury..no idea who will finish 2014 as no 1.

Given that all her first round exits were due to glandular fever which she is now past and winning matches again I see her passing Robson.

Especially since Robson hasn't played since her first round exit at the AO where she won like 3 games and has a left wrist injury. She's still hot though.

Does anyone know how Watson is doing in her current tournament? She is in an ITF, I know she won her first round but can't find anymore news.

Robson has the bigger talent, but less will-power and motivation. Watson has much more ambition and work-ethic but less talent.

At this moment in time, I can't see either shooting up the rankings and contending for big titles, especially Robson. But I continue to live in hope, just!

I think i prefer Watson to have a better season in all honesty. Robson has the physical power and a stonger game when "on" but her brain falls apart when her oppenent stats to play. she is one of the worst iv seen in the WTA for losing her focus and brain-farting matches away.

On the other hand, Watson is consistant and she's pretty quick around the court. I like her shot selection and she's clearly got a brain when playing but unfortunately lacks the one thing that Robson has. Power. Without it she will never get anywhere near the top 20. If only we could like.... mesh the two of them together, we might actually have a decent top 10 player!

I think with Robsons surgery it is now certain that Watson will overtake her, but does anyone know how she is doing in her current tournament?
