Wawrinka is due for a win against Djokovic

I just figure that he has to beat him sooner or later. In the past year, he's taken Djokovic to 5 sets in two different grand slams. He's really due for a win at this point. He's playing the best tennis of his life and he knows Djokovic's game inside and out by now He knows what he has to do to win. Will he finally be able to pull off the upset this time?

He probably won't do it when Novak is on a 28 match or whatever win streak.

Although I suppose you could also say that Novak is due for a loss to anyone.

I think he both have the game and the belief to do it this year. But Djoko has looked pretty darn solid, so he's still the 80-20 (or 75-25) favorite imo.

Truly a nightmare scenario. Nadal can't keep wining slam after slam beating just one or even zero top players in the process. Enough is enough. Nadal needs to play fresh (i.e. not coming of an epic 4 or 5 setter) Murray/Federer followed by fresh (i.e. not coming of an epic 4 or 5 setter) Djokovic. Then I will shut up about his clown draws.

This is another overhyped match. Prediction: Nole will win in straight sets (7-6, 7-5, 6-4)

Seconded.

From what I've seen from Wawrinka, he looks a little bit worse than in 2012.

I think that he can sneak a set in the third but fizz out in the fourth.

Nothing is "due" but the rent or mortgage payment-unless you subscribe to the "Nobody beats Vitas Geuralitis 15 times in a row" school of thinking, and that was said tongue-in-cheek.

How did he take Nole to 5 sets twice last year? What changed?

First of all, meant to say 2013.

Second, I've seen a couple of matches from Wawrinka this year and he seems to have lost a bit of focus. Maybe it's just an impression but he seems just a bit off when compared to the same period last year.

He would need to play extremely well for an extended period of time to push Djokovic to five again, let alone beat him.

I love watching Stanimal play, but homeboy is slow. Like, 2 steps slower than Joker. Don't think he has much of a chance against one of the better backboards to ever play tennis.

What is this concept of "due for a win" ?
I mean is it like some holy visit to Vatican or Maan Vaishno Devi where if you go too many times you are considered naturally "due" to meet The Pope or get "good darshan" of Shera wali Maan....

It has nothing to do with form, really. Wawrinka played lights out last year and I don't think lightning will strike twice.

Djokovic will steamroll Stan in 3 sets. Max 4 and only because Stan has been having the easiest wins lately with the various walkovers and cakewalk of a draw while Novak has had to play all of his games and finish the matches.

I want to dedicate this thread to all the non believers.

The moral is: always keep trying and never give up, things will come around in life.

I stand well and truly corrected.

Really didn't expect Wawrinka to win but from what I've read Djokovic was awful for most of the match.
