We Are Now In The Era Of The Big Two. Sinner And Alcaraz.

The former world number 1 has already been retired in best-of-five-set tournaments.
He made the semifinal of the AO, lost only by injury default at the FO, made the final of Wimbledon amd won the Olympics. The USO was the only poor result. He doesn’t seem done in my opinion.

Not done, but no longer the favorite. He can still win slams though.

Yes but it only goes downhill further from here. Any future year he plays just goes down from this year, particularly in best of 5 play. That is the reality of being old. Even though he has successfully vultured atleast 5 years extra worth of slams due to the terrible field, age eventually catches up to everyone, no matter how awful the field is.

Also Olympics is not a best of 5 tournament so irrelevant to the original point.

He's not done Done, obviously, but he's closer to the Medvedev/Z zone than to Sinner and Alcaraz, or any past version of himself

He got completely destroyed at both AO and Wimbledon, at RG he nearly lost to Musetti and Cerundolo. He seems nowhere near close to slam winning stuff, and this aren't going to get better at 38.

After Sunday, Sinner and Alcaraz will have won all 2024 Majors.
We are now firmly in the era of The Big Two.
How does it feel?
It looks that way, BUT i am not sure Alcaraz and Sinner are as focussed and mentally stable as the Big 3. I get the feeling they like to enjoy themselves in their private life a bit more than the Big 3 who had GF's who became their wives from their teens.
I think they will win most of the slams but i think we will have more varied winners on the mens side now more like the 90s.

I'm all for it, really enjoying watching Sinner and Alcaraz battle against each other and hopefully they will duke it out over the next 5-10 years.

Their last 5 matches have all been in semis, looking ahead to seeing them clash in finals next year.

Their current H2H (5-4 to Alcaraz) is following a pretty interesting pattern. Alcaraz won their first encounter in Paris 2021 and ever since then, both of them go on to win 2 matches in a row against the other before it flips the other way around.

Wonder if Sinner will continue this pattern since it is heading into the indoor season where the court conditions generally favour Sinner over Alcaraz
