Weak Era or Strong Era?

Also lol @ NadalAgassi above. Acting like Roddick would've had no competition had Fed been out of the picture from 2004-2010 or so. Hewitt, Safin and Nadal would have cut deeply into his hypothetical slam title(s).

Safin-Roddick were extremely competitive, Roddick was Hewitt's pigeon until 2006. I don't even need to mention Nadal.
 
Weak era doesn't just mean at the top of the game. From 2011-2014 the very top of the mens game was fairly strong with the big 4. However people expressed concern at the lack of players coming through. With all 3 of Djokvic's main rivals declining (Murray not the same player he was under Lendl, Federer getting old, Nadal a complete joke and unable to make slam semis) and no one there to make the step up, these people have been proven correct.

I predict this year is going to be even worse than Federer's laughable 2004-2007 era.

So today's era is tougher because of Novak and Murray...are they tougher than Federer and Nadal? Because the latter two certainly aren't prime right now.

This is probably one of the weakest eras in history.

No one can challenge the #1 player except a 35 year old man.

In the last year (or even two) the current #2 is not competitive against his contemporaries.

No one under 25 has shown any capability of stepping up and competing for the big titles.

Nadal has fallen from his top form and is now laboring against the tour.

Novak is a great player but he is making the most of this opportunity and capitalizing big time.

IMO I think that 07-11 was probably one of the strongest eras in history.
Fed on the top of his game, Nadal in the middle of his grand slam title grabbing, Novak always a big threat and fully established himself as the top dog in 2011.

Strongest era ever. Take all former players, they all agree on that. I was reading yesterday Chris Evert and Brad Gilbert saying so. No player is saying Federer is old or lost movement.

Of course armchair warriors posting here and saying it is a weak era, are ants compared to any former player.

They are just yaysayers and don't want to come across as bitter hasbeens. Which is perfectly understandable.

The only one who doesn't care what other people think of him is of course Safin. And he agrees it's a weak era.
 
Wilander is just protecting his own assets when he's praising this era.

Just like other experts so when they say Fed has never played better than now and that Nadal is back to his prime form. They of course know this isn't true but they have make tennis seem like its something people should watch so they can keep their revenue.
 
Also popular for experts to say that the current nr 1 is the goat. They've said that about Fed, then Nadal and now Djoko. Cause who doesn't want to watch the goat play right?
 
No, because everybody knows tennis evolves and level increasese along the years. Toni Nadal was talking about the changes in tennis form 4/5 years ago !!

Safin needs to contradicts, that is just his nature.

Most people posting here cant even hold a racquet

I honestly have to say, as a big fed-liker as myself, but if we are talking about eras, I must say Fed supporters should be the last ones to even say another era is weak.

In my eyes, such things as weak eras don't exist. You play the current best players in the world and those who are infront of you, if you win you are the best for a reason: you are better than your competition. Simple as that.

But those who believes in such stupid things, you oughtta watch out before you say something.

Indeed. This people not only do not play tennis, but certainly were not around when Sampras fans were inundating all boards saying that 2005 was a weak era and Federer was inferior to Pete´s.

Especially the fact that there is nobody under 25 that can step up. In fact, everyone in the top 12 is at least 28, with the exception of Kei at 26.

History will prove this correct. In 5 years' time, most of the current top 10 - 20 players will be either retired (including Fed and Rafa) or way past their due date (including Novak). And then we will be able to judge the current pathetic generation objectively.
 
Strong era = Djokodal dominating

Weak era = Whenever Federer wins

Weak era theorists in a nutshell.

I think the first two Alien movies were from the stronger era, seen the second one countless times. The others appear to be all weak era releases imo.
 
Gotta love online posters that claim to understand the sport better than the pros that actually played it.

Which is a testament to weak era as these mugs can't even beat a 34/35 year old Federer. Hell most of these muggish younger players can't even beat the likes of Berdych and Ferrer (who are laughably still in the top 10) Tired of these PC warriors saying that this isn't weak era.

Second one was all time fav. I liked Cameron's movies from the 80s, and Aliens had the same feel as Terminator. He took what was basically a horror suspense, and a very very good movie Alien, and turned it into an all out action thriller. It was a shame that the characters he created to support Ripley were killed off in part 3 due to back stage politics, annoyed Cameron and turned me off the rest of the franchise really.
