Who will win the coveted "Champion's League Final," in this all-english clash? (shame it's not Arsenal in there :()

I'll be watching highlights :( but here's the preview.

Luzhniki Stadium is where it's at, so have fun watching it live, if anyone does!

Man. Utd - Wins the double
Chelsea - first Champion's League trophy (under new manager)

Both teams are full of quality players: no one player really stands out (except for maybe Ronaldo on Man. Utd)
 
It will be very tight but I expect Man Utd to win through. I have had a feeling that this summer will belong to Ronaldo - it's starting tonight and he's going to shine throughout Euro 2008.

I am bracing myself for 120 minutes of football with a 118th minute screamer from Ronaldo. 1-0 United

Man, there's so many mixed feeling for me though.

I want Man. Utd to win; but they won the PremierLeague: meaning there gonna win the double. C'mon, that makes Arsenal look pathetic.

I want Chelsea to prevent Man. Utd from getting the double, but not win it, 'cause Arsenal have to win it first (they should have already in 2006, Barca; those goals were offside!)

Argh.

Anyways, at the match quality will be high: it won't be a repeat of their encounter at Wembley (not the score, but the quality)

Yep, still in the CC Championship. I am hoping for a very good season next year. And hope is a good breakfast, but a poor supper.
 
Over the past 12 meetings, Chelsea well and truly own Man Utd.

Chelsea also have the best away form.

Over the past 3 months Chelsea have been the better team.

It's impossible to predict, toss a coin.

As for Ronaldo, has anyone ever seen him get the better of Ashley Cole? Shame he's not 100% fit but i'm still hopeful he'll deal with him, even on one leg.

I like Chelsea but dislike Ronaldo(ughh those fake falls and ****) so I am rooting for Chelsea. Haven't followed football lately. How's Rooney playing? Haven't heard about him lately.
 
Apparently, coverage is being broadcast to EVERY Country in the world with over 500 Million watching.

Even more than the World Cup final and 4/5 times as many as the Super Bowl.

It feels like the whole World is stopping to watch, scary.
 
I HATE Manchester United. I also think JT doesn't deserve to be the highest paid player at Chelsea now, either. Sure, he was great until penalties. Then it all fell apart. To get paid so highly and not finish off the match like that is absolutely disturbing.
 
And here i was praying for some kind of nuclear (or alien. i'm not fussy) attack on Moscow tonight with only Ryan Giggs surviving the blast.
At the risk of posting spoilers...it didn't happen. :(

The main thing that was proved tonight is that some footballers really are the dregs of society. Overpaid, underworked nonces.

He deserves every single penny he get's, and more besides. He was out of this world tonight.

Terry cleared one off the line and was brilliant all game, one little slip (which could of happened to anyone in that weather) when he was about to take the penalty doesn't make him rubbish.. Van Der Sar had gone the wrong way so had he not of slipped he would of won the game and taken the team he's been at since a young kid to the biggest prize in club football.

He's the captain and stood up to take the last one, he should be applauded and nothing else.

In all seriousness great game from both sides, a ton of missed oppourtunities and the game truly could have gone either way. Unfortunate that Man U won but eh that's sport sometimes an evil empire just can't be stopped for a season or two.

Next year is all Manchester City, anyway :).

Yours was a good prediction actually.

So many people go with Man Utd because they play all pretty and are the fashionable club but after the first 30 mins where Man Utd played brilliantly, Chelsea came back and dominated for the remainder of normal time and did well in extra time too, hitting the cross bar and post along the way, not to mention having double the attempts on goal ... you did well to predict it would be Chelsea having the better of most of the game.

Quite a few of the papers this morning have Lampard as Man of The Match describing him as... "Appeared engaged in a one-man battle to keep Chelsea in the match, playing several good balls to Drogba and grabbing the equaliser before hitting the bar with an exquisite chip in extra time." and "Always willing to support the attack. Brilliant awareness and finish for the equalising goal. Hit the bar and covered every inch of the pitch. Could not have given more."

That just makes it even harder to take! If we had continued like we did in the first 30 mins then we deserved to lose, but to of played like we did and lose it on a slip in a penalty shoot out is horrible.
 
Stupid Terry!!:evil: and I was already celebrating for Man U. losing especially with Ronaldo missing the penalty :twisted:..only to watch Terry screw it all!!!:cry: terrible terrible. First half was almost all Man U and the rest mostly Chelsea.Not the best final I have seen.:-?

Yeah I think Liverpool and Milan from 2005 have the title of best final safely wrapped up ;) lol.

This one was pretty good though. The way we played in the second half and beyond was out of this world, I know people don't find it that attractive but the power and rhythm we find when we are at our best is breathtaking imo.. i'd take that over fancy passing anyday.

If Drogba wasn't sent off the penalties may have been a different story.
 
What's the word on Grant's future then? I personally think Frank Rykhard is the man they should try at all costs to hire.
 
^^If they want to win the Champions League I would suggest Rafa Benitez or Alex Ferguson lol.

Honestly, I'm actually quite pleased that Man U have proved you can't buy the Champions League. I would also suspect that "The Special One" may have felt a bit cheated if Avram Grant pranced off with a winner's medal.

Those Serbs are annoying, he had to slap Vidic. ;)

Shame for Terry but I kind of expected a bit better game. Chelsea could have scored in 2nd half easily but the goal they scored was pure luck ..

lol yeah, as someone said, if he was going to get himself sent off he should of smashed his face in and not just flicked him. Go out in style!

And to be fair, we did everything but score another ;)

Ballack had a header saved from a yard out, Drogba hit the post from 25 yards, Lampard hit the underside of the bar. Up untill Drogba got sent off Man Utd were hanging on really, there only looked like there was going to be one team to go on and win but hey, I still don't know what it's like for my team to win a penalty shoot out! England haven't done it and i'm still waiting for Chelsea to win one.. maybe next year :-?

England beat Spain in the Euro96 QF on penalties. But then I wouldn't expect a young'un like you to remember that!

I dont know about Chelsea winning if Drogba stayed on but he surely did a stupid thing with the slap. He'd come in handy for the overtime and shootout. Anyways Im a Serb and that part was a joke, Drogba lost it there and then.

As for the match, Ive watched the whole damn thing couple of tiemes already. Man U were better from the word go, then Chelsea equilised and it turned the game. MUFC had its share of chances but I dont know. Vidic said afterwords that he thinks no one deserved to win more than the others, so it sums up the game nicely. Cech had two great saves and Terry had one clearence off the line, while Chelsea hit woodwork twice and had one more chance as I recall, pretty even.

Yeah I was 6 at the time. Wasn't really too sure what it all meant at the time, I was at the pub with my dad playing with the other kids and remember all the men jumping on tables and phone boxes outside lol.. Can't wait for the next one!
 
What was the reason for that riot anyways? I just saw that Tevez was involved in the beginning but didn't see why exactly. Anyone?

Well, that was about Tevez returning the ball to the Chelsea guys there. He sent the ball out virtually in line with Chelsea goal, which annoyed a few guys, notably Terry. Tevez did it on purpose - he did not forget when Chelsea players did the same in the first overtime, he figured its as good time as ever to get back at them. Someone said something to him, they picked on eachother, Ballack was quickly in action alongside Terry ( lucky Makelele was not able to, he was a red card candidate for the best part of the match ). Then it all messed up and while everyone was there, Vidic and Drogba threw a few tough words to eachother, Drogba slaped him and received Red reward. Anyways Ballack and Tevez received Yellow cards.

Did anyone notice when Tevez deserved a sending off ? After being brought down some time in the 2nd half, he decided to get back at Makelele and in one clash he smacked Claude very hard, there was no acting there, just Tevez was very good at making it look like a regular duel/clash for the ball. Clean fist.
 
Anybody else find Christiano very annoying? A lot of people say he's the best right now but the guy looks like a freakin' tree wrapped in a hard cement(that's the best description I can come up with), his motions are so ugly and stiff(I know I know he's an good ball striker). I don't read a lot of football news but he seems like he's the type that likes attention. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this guy is a jerk. Okay end of rant.

Yep I've seen that too, he disguised it very smartly.
But what was much worse in my opinion was the rude tackling from Calvalho against Ronaldo. Imagine a team mate of your national team breaks your leg 3 weeks before EURO 2008!
