Yeah, I was just looking at that. Not only is Ruud's first serve percentage in the mid 40s, but his average first serve speed is just around 105 mph. So it's not like he's throwing bombs and not connecting.

(Of course, I'm not able to watch this right now... I'm just following the live stats. Maybe all his misses are 130 mph.)

OK, Ruud watched the Tiafoe vs Schwartzman match, so now he has Sinner right where he wants him. ;)

EDIT: Sinner was not interested in playing a tiebreaker today.

Breadsticked, that has to sting.

most impressive for me from Sinner wasn’t his ground game, it was the 10 Aces and 68% first serve. For reference Berrettini and FAA only had 12 aces and they played 3 setters. He keeps the serving moving in this direction and we are looking at a very bright future indeed.

Just seeing complaints about Ruud. I think he has improved massively and I thought the level in this match was very high. That first set was superb stuff from both. Top level.

Ruud struggled on serve today, though. Great performance by Sinner!
 
11th consecutive indoor win. All in straights. The final break sadly ends the lucky streak of matches with at least one 6-2.

Put a roof over this kid's head, and things get scary.

7-5, 6-1 today. I guess that breadstick was all about Ruud falling apart; nothing about having good iq and adjusting to win more easily. No variety either. Used to win pounding from the baseline. God forbid he works hard and SMART to fix a faulty serve.

smh. I’ve forgotten more about tennis than you’ll ever learn if this is your take on a player that runs short on tennis IQ.

Todays win was more about playing great than tennis iq and you should know that, hes been playing great all week and adjusted well to this conditions, ok, ill just agree that we have different definitions of tennis iq, i dont mean hes dumb for gods shake, i mean other thing but its already hard for me to explain it better, so just think that we dont mean the same

There is a potential for a guaranteed first time champion in Petrograd if underdogs Struff and BvdZ were winners on Saturday.
 
Van de Zandschulp didn't get a special exempt into Paris for some reason. I don't know if it's just because the level between a 250 and a masters is so big, frankly I don't know that I understand all the rules surrounding it, but he's a SFist in St Petersburg and should be in the Paris draw.

No jumps from 250 to M1K according to ATP Rulebook (page 22 of 80) Section VII, 7.10 Special Exempts (SE), Eligibility Section 1, clause a) A qualified event to earn SE for a M1K would be:

Interesting to note, Paris-Bercy is a 56 draw this year instead of a 48 draw. That's going to hurt Jannik as he'll have to play a 1R match. Wonder if he'll have the stamina for much more after this tournament.

I was wrong, he got the 8th seed, not the 9th seed like I was expecting. gets an extra day off. Then probably gets Alcaraz in the 2R.
 
Winners, Zverev (#18) and Cilic (#20). Congrats to both. Zverev is now a mere 90 points behind Tsitsipas in the Race,
