Tsitsipas playing Hamburg is typical dumb scheduling. Should be preparing for the hard court season rather than vulturing another clay tournament.

He’s probably already vlogging about being in touch with his inner Beatle via a tour of the Reeperbahn and getting on stage at what was The Top 10 Club (now moondoo) where they performed at Citypass’ age. I imagine he’ll say something like, “Can’t be #1 without breathing the same air as the real #1s!”

It’s probably crazy to get in Bublik’s corner but I will. He made Newport’19 finals so maybe he gets a round further and carries the trophy home Sunday.

He's still on vacation. Hamburg is **********' tournament to lose if he's careless, will probably defeat PCB in the final.

Tsitsipas is 2600 pts behind Novak in the race. Probably wants to get as many "easy" points as possible, but seeing how this is his 14th tournament this year I think he may be overplaying a little bit.

These smaller tourneys are like practice sessions for him.

ThIs Hall of fame tournament Grass courts have NO problems with players slipping and falling with injuries,,, even on 1st day with very very new Green grass. Why is that ?? Perhaps Wimbledon should switch to this grass ???

The 2021 Hall of Fame Open is a men's tennis tournament to be played on outdoor grass courts. It is the 45th edition of the event, and part of the 250 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. It take place at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, from July 12 through July 18, 2021.[1]

I'd watch a Ruud-Garin Nordea Open final.
Otherwise, I'm having a break until Olympics lol. Tennised out.

Citypass needs some matches after getting booted 1R at Wimby, now over two weeks ago. That one match vs Tiafoe is his only match since RG final, now exactly one month ago. Hardly overplaying.

In before @sureshs wakes up to find out The Nagal is out of Hamburg, thrashed by qualifier Varillas from Peru. What would a Peruvian bagel taste like (0&4)?

If Basil Fawlty wins at Hamburg this week he may apply for and be granted German citizenship…he has already won Hamburg 2x and recently won Munich in May. It took a great effort by Rublev in the Halle SFs last month to deny him a chance for the title in fedrstadt. The guy is quite at home breathing in Der Luft im Deutschland.

Three Scandos in Bastad who's name starts with "Ru"

Holger Rune wins his first round match. Now meets top seeded Casper Ruud in the second round. If the winner reaches the SFs here, he might be faced by Emil Ruusuvuori.

Ruusuvuori surprisingly beats Mikael Ymer on clay, which has been by far his worst surface. Not even Finnish tennis followers expected a win because Ruusuvuori has been out of form lately.

Yeah, Emil has struggled since his transition from the ATP Challenger Tour. He's maintaining a top 100 ranking, but just can't get enough matches strung together to break into the top 50.

According to cultural historians, you are FINNISHed in Helsinki for calling Ruusuvuori a Scando. The four countries mentioned are all Nordic but it’s only Danemark, Norge and Sverige that make up Scandinavia.

Interesting qually scoreline yesterday (Newport):

Last time I check Ryan's ranking it was in the mid 300s! I glad he gets a chance here to possible make comeback and get some desperately needed ATP points and confidence points too. He was a cocky teenager when he first entered into the ATP Pro Tour coach by his dad! The time to be cocky when you are in the top 5 in the rankings, not beginning of one's career!

Suomi over Sverige 2x in a row, bro! Just backing up the escape in Miami over Ymer, rebounding from a set down.

Molcan has won 1R Hamburg in a nice comeback vs Mager, 4-6 6-4 7-6(3). The Slovakian journeyman has been impressive since qualifying for Belgrade Djokovic 2 Open and making it to the final and a loss to the tournament director. Including today’s match and all competitions since that qualies stage in Serbia, Molcan is 17-4 with two finals. He lost in Wimby qualies from a 2-0 lead vs Hoang, really the only disappointment in two months.

Also looking forward to Cressy/Lorenzi. Winner plays Querrey. Hoping for Cressy to win because while he might be a loudmouth hype boy, I love his non-stop attacking tennis.

How about Dr. Ivo winning in newport, even won a set 6/1. Domination.
That was a nice rebound from losing the opening set TB.

I’m wondering if there’s added pressure and how much of it for a fairly high ranked Challenger player like Alex Bolt to get in a 250-level draw and have to face a WC like former top 8 player Jacques Chaussette?

Bolt is handling it well so far, getting up 6-3 2-1 and a break.

Amazing wonderful genius future star Musetti lost to Laaksonen in Bastad. I suppose the ATP PR dep. started to groom him way too early.

Anyone care to speculate on the Cressy/Querrey match tomorrow? I’d make a dedicated thread, but I’m sure I’m the only one whose like, super excited about it.

Nice win for Djere, getting through a TB first set before baking the baguette for young Brazilian Seyboth Wild. He’s due to face #3 seed Basil Fawlty, who is in the QFs without one single stroke after earning the 1R bye and then a walkover vs Sebastian Baez. Will the Georgian proprietor of a Torquay hotel suffer the Rublev effect, going into a later round match without any match play. Basil knows of this impact full well, having won the Doha final over RBA, who beat the undercooked Rublev in the SFs.

Bublik hit an underhand serve last game up on game point. Camera had a close up on Bublik and missed Ivos return, which was long. No replay.. Booo.

Another solid showing for Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech today in defeating the Aussie veteran John Millman and advancing to the Bastad QFs from qualies. He dropped his first set today in his fourth match after taking the lead against Millman but rebounded for the 6-3 3-6 6-3 win that earned him his NCH of #96, his first taste of top 100 status.

Rinderknech will now play the veteran journeyman Yannick Hanfmann (GER) . The Frenchman won their recent match in Halle 1R in straight sets.

Karlovic shouldn't have taken that poop break at the end of the 2nd set. Lost all rhythm. Just lost 6-1 in 3rd.

Jason Jung just beat 5th seed T. Sandgren 6-2, 6-2, 2nd round at Hall of Fame. Haven't seen him on this forum for a while.

Could explain his success, no?

The other pro, Canadian Filip Peliwo, who tried maintaining a profile here soon gave it up when his progress as a pro stalled after winning two junior slam titles and not making a dent in Futures/Challengers. He got quite a lot of unsolicited advice for his troubles and backed away very shortly after.
