Weight added inside handle

Hi! I bought a pair of rackets that had already been weighted up by the previous owner, including having "white putty" put inside the handle.

I've watched the TW video on adding weight and saw it said to always add the weight to a cotton ball, then place that inside. When I take the butt caps off, it's just a gooey mess in there.

I was wondering if I needed to try to clean this out, and if so, how? I love the racket/weight/balance so I'm not looking to change anything, but the video mentioned that the added weight, which was tungsten putty in that case, could move up into the hoop & be problematic if not added to the cotton before being placed inside the handle. Not sure if this is also the case with this "white putty". The person I bought them from just called this stuff "white putty" & said it was the same as Blu Tak but I thought that was a solid, and this is just goo.

Any insight/advice is much appreciated!

Cotton ball is supposed to be pushed down the handle before "gooey mess" is added.

So how do you know that the cotton balls aren't already in the handle?

I do not know. I don't really know anything about this. I'm going to just assume it's all good and stop worrying

Thanks!

If it’s a gooey mess what happens if it runs into the of the head of the racket? I don’t know what it is or how you will ever get it out but I would try my best. My guess is it is some kind of caulk. Before i’d try to remove it I would measure the weight and and balance since you like it. After you get the handle cleaned out try to duplicate the weight and balance you like.

Why not ask the previous owner on what he/she did to add the weight? Go to the source. If you like the current weight/balance I wouldn't want to mess around with it.

Its quite obvious someone has probably stuffed vanilla icecream in there. I suggest a straw to suck it out with.

I had the same problem once, when a racquet i had bought turned out to have gooey purple boysenberry icecream inside.

It was delicious.

I wasn't sure I had their info, but I did. They said there was silicone added first, properly. Then the putty between that and the butt cap. I think I'm good.

Thanks everyone!
