Weird overrules?

I was looking on youtube and I found a couple videos of Nadal getting mad at the umpires. These are the only two videos that I've seen him argue can someone help explain the ruling on what happened?

I thought the call was late on this one, but did Nadal lose the point because he gave up on the ball when he thought it was out? Even the commentators said it should have been a replay.

The difference between this one and the first one is Nadal actual hit it back, but he still lost the point.

Can someone explain the ruling on these overrules? I obviously don't know the rules on replays and what not, I am sure there are a lot of things to account for, but now I am curious. Thanks guys

if you are trolling, then i recommend you to stop. both of these can be seen as poor and bad calls. in the case of the first video, nadal lost the point because pascal maria thought that since nadal hit the ball into the net prior to the late call, he had no play on the ball.

in the second video, the umpire feels that rafa challenged the ball. people here feel that this was a poor judgement call because the umpire said "out". the point went to berdych because the umpire felt that rafa stopped play to challenge. in some ways the umpire was wrong, but in other he was correct because nadal clearly stopped playing as if to challenge.

Every body makes mistake, the has made some huge blunders. However, you must consider all of the other time there were no mistakes. Is he the best? No. Is he very good at what he does? I sure as s$** would not want that job, as I don't believe I could do it.

I have no hard feelings towards Pascal at all. His incompetence angered Nadal so much that it motivated Nadal to destroy Soderling after going down a set. He eventually went on to win the tournament.

While PM's call was definitely questionable as sometimes the audio/video aren't synced properly... Bernardes' call was flat out bad.

Playing Soderling, it appeared that Rafa heard the out call prior to striking the ball.

The Wimbledon call is very close. I find Bud's attitude of simply presuming the recording must be out of sync to make Nadal right pretty funny though.

The video definitely is a bit out of sync--when you hear the racquet contact the ball is already well on its way. If you close your eyes and listen, the final out call and the racquet contact are basically simultaneous. So I think Nadal has a good argument here. He shouldn't lose a point on an out call that occurs at the same time as his swing.

No, the point does not have to be replayed. The umpire has the authority to say that Nadal had stopped play even though he accepted Berdych's challenge. The umpire has the power to do that. And he was correct.
