Weird tie off labelling on Microgel Prestige Pro

Hi guys.

Strung a Microgel Prestige Pro earlier - two piece

Followed previous string job and USTA recommendation.

Yet on the racket it had two mains labelled tie offs on the top and two crosses as per the recommendation.

And another two mains labelled tie offs on the bottom where the crosses tied off?

Is that unusual? Or an error?

Cheers, Paul

Well you can usually start the crosses on either side of the racket (meaning left or right), so it makes sense there would be 4 grommets total designated for cross tie offs.

MICROGEL PRESTIGE PRO MP [T=top, B=bottom of hoop]
Range: 52 - 62
Pattern: 16x19
Skips: 8T - 8B
MTO: 7T
1st X: 8T
XTO: 6T - 7B
Sounds normal to me. Mains tie off at top. Two starting knot and ending cross at bottom.

If I understand OP correctly he is seeing main tie offs labeled at both the head and the throat? If so, that would be a mistake.

With this being a prestige pro, the pattern is 16x19 and there are 8 mains through the throat bridge. Thus the mains tie off at the head.

Yup. It has four MAINS tie offs, not crosses. Two at the top and two at the bottom. Four clearly labelled mains tie off

Yeah that’s a mistake. Could be since the mp and pro look pretty similar…maybe somebody goofed on that racquet during mfg. Rare, but not the first time I’ve seen something like that.

Know how some mfg’s have been labeling outer mains with a dot - so you get the skips right? One time one of those was mislabeled (only on one side of the mains too). Unfortunately I had tied the mains off before I noticed. Oops.

I've definitely come across a racket or two where the indicator to specify the center of racket was off by one. So I'm left standing there befuddled and scrutinizing the grommets to make sure my mind's not playing tricks on me.
