Last week I tested two of the new weissCannon strings. I am a full poly user so I strung up a full set of silverstring and a full set of match power. Here are my thoughts:
Silverstring (1.20): This string felt very similar to luxilon big banger alu power. As compared to alu power, silverstring had more spin (which may have been b/c I tested the 1.20 gauge), the same power, and far better tension maintenance. In general, I do not like firm string beds, so this is not a string I will use regularly. However, I recommend that luxilon alu power users try this one out since it feels like a better product at a lower price. Also, b/c this string holds its tension so well, I recommend stringing it a bit lower than your usual poly tension.
Match Power (1.25): Due to the color of this string, I tested it thinking it would be similar to signum ppp. It is not. This string is less firm than silverstring, but is still firmer than signum. I would not call match power a soft poly (like head ultra tour, signum ppp, topspin poly polar), but it definitely doesn’t play as stiff as the stiff polys either. Match power is also pretty powerful. I did not feel like match power gave me as much spin as signum or silverstring (but this could due to the fact that I usually use a slightly thinner gauge). Overall, I liked this string a little bit more than silverstring (just b/c it is a bit softer). I think players who like a medium soft and powerful poly should try this one. Again, because this string holds tension so well, I recommend stringing it a bit lower than your usual poly tension.
