Well, there is Paris 2024.

Not a fan of Tokyo 2020/2021 Olympics, less of Novak playing there.

He didn't need the hype all week and this loss could hurt him way more than a loss at Atp500 or 1000.

As a citizen, he played for his country and deserved applause. As a tennis player at an advanced age and the brink of making history, he made a bad decision.

From the moment he decided to go to Tokyo, I took Nadal as the favorite to win USO.

It's clay so I wont hold my breath. He'll be 37.

It might keep him motivated until 2024, which is good.

He will retire before that. Even if he plays, Thiem, Zverev and Tsitsi will be big favorites to win. Not to say we can expect more young players to come up. He wont win gold, but he is goat anyway. Its painfull now, but time will heal it.

He will need a vaxx passport to enter though

I doubt it. I feel this was his last chance. Still you never know with Djokovic he does unlikely things .

The odds though with him being 37 and on clay then make it very unlikely. I feel the olympic gold dream ship has sailed.

The 3 kings of tennis can’t win everything. Fedalovic all have a hole in their resume somewhere and show they human.

Djoko can focus on being the GOAT of bronze medals! ;):p

If he can nab at least 1 of them he will still get a place on the podium.

It’ll be well over for him by then.
He’s not entitled to win it. He had his chances and he blew them. Meanwhile the earth kept rotating

Honestly don’t like tennis in the Olympics it simply isn’t anywhere near the pinnacle of achievement in tennis whereas it would mean the world to a squash player. Best of 3 sets too, says it all.
Complete waste of time. It doesn't need to be in the olympics.

Regarding the thread title, consider where the top of the game was just the same amount of time ago that you’re now fast forwarding through to 2024. Joe Kovic had just accomplished a comeback from plenty of doubtful issues, first mentally and then physically, to win his first slam since completing his first CGS cycle. So, if you’re saying that Paris will host the 2024 Olympics tennis events at RG, I will agree. If you’re saying Djokovic will enjoy a role as the favorite at Paris’24, I will disagree. There’s way too many things that happen in pro tennis in 3 years. And, more importantly, not at age 37 unless he skips that 2-week exho at SW19 with a 100% commitment to winning a gold for Serbia in singles ONLY. Maybe even a strategic pull out before the money rounds of Bo5 in the regular RG just to save energy.

The decline will be faster than expected. He already declined a lot this year, his mental game won him those 3 slams, nothing else. As soon as his mental game declines (like yesterday, just more often), he'll be out of the picture winning slams or the next Olympics.

In 2024, Novak (37) will be back at the Olympics and will play Rafa (38) in the gold medal match on Philippe Chatrier court.

Can't wait.
Impossible to predict. No one knew there was going to be a pandemic four years ago. A lot can happen. He will be at the very tail end of his career by then, and possibly before. I wouldn't even begin to speculate.

We had a Welshman play American Psycho. Who can we expect to play Serbian Psycho? Will that character hand out a killer business card with raised thermoprinted lettering on an off-white stock succinctly describing him as:

Shapovalav's going to win 20 grand slams now, right?
:-D
