Well will the American Media embrace Roger Federer?

The last two weeks on ESPN, it's been an Andy Roddick love fest. The coverage has been sickening. The storyline pretty much was "will Andy finally beat Roger and has he closed the gap?".

Aside from the actual commentators and analysts on ESPN, there really had been no appreciation for Federer. It seems like the producers and directors at ESPN WANTED to shove Roddick's story down our throats.

I understand the whole thing about trying ot turn Roddick into the next American Tennis Icon, but as long as Federer dominates him why can't they give more coverage of Roger?

Sure Enberg,PMac and others acknowledge Federer's greatness, but on the ESPN AO commercials and plugins (from other sports) all you hear is "Catch the Australian Open on ESPN following this game, with Andy Roddick and Serena Williams in action."

I have a feeling that if Federer breaks Sampras' record, the coverage will even be more dwindled.

"Later today at 3:30 PM, coverage of Federer and Williams".

A. Federer almost always wins, why show a match when you already know the result?

B. Federer makes such rediculous shots that are even impossible by legendary pro standerds. It's cool to see these shots once in awhile, but he does it consistently in a match. I want to some competition not some guy demolishing the field.

C. Federer makes the game BORING. Essentially has no challengers. At least Sampras almost lost matches, Federer rarely if ever gets close to losing unless it is a REALLY bad day for him.

D. Federer's insane talent is only matched by one person in the entire ATP, and he's a headcase.



Why do so many Americans like Roddick?

A. Roddick does not have that much talent, he's just a hard worker. He compensates talent with the amount of time he puts on the court.

B. He shows some personality on the court.

C. Despite the fact that he's an arrogant ***** sometimes, he is funny at times.

D. It's actually possible for him to lose, meaning you watch to see if he can pull out the win
