What’s up with McEnroe?

Something about him seems off when he does the on court interviews - shaky voice, nervous swaying, fumbling over words, hunched a bit, looking mostly left and right down at the court instead of making eye contact with the player he’s talking to...

Very strange behaviour...

You've never seen Mac in action I take it? That's who he is.

It seems like he's a bit slower and more chemically impaired than usual, but nothing to worry about. Probably just feeling all that legends action a bit more these days, and god knows what that entails all told.

You're are obviously not old enough to remember McEnroe as an active player. He's always been like this. In the Borg v McEnroe film they actually featured these mannerisms and in interviews way back then he never made eye to eye contact with the interviewer.

What's strange is that while his post-match interviews have been pretty distractingly bad, his match commentary has been quite solid. Coherent at the very least. Maybe it's something about speaking in front of a full stadium.

Mac seems more subdoed these days.
Avoiding controversial topics and still excellent commentary.
Too bad that today does not really accept open free speech.
Wish he could unleash his version of Ricky Gervais opening at the 2020 Golden Globes :)
Amazing the level of tennis he is still capable of playing!

the senile old geezer holding signs of protest in Australia?

Mac has gone full retardd.

Never go full retardd.

“There’s only one thing longer than a list of Margaret Court’s tennis achievements: it’s her list of offensive and homophobic statements,” McEnroe said on Eurosport.

He added: “Serena, do me a favour, get two more Grand Slams this year and get to 25 so we can leave Margaret Court and her offensive views in the past, where they both belong. Thank you.”

McEnroe continued: “The air quality in Melbourne is not the only nightmare that Tennis Australia is having. Margaret Court is another one.

“This year marks the 50th anniversary of Margaret Court’s Grand Slam and Tennis Australia is facing a dilemma. What do they do with their crazy aunt?”

he's back on the coke ..
I thought the same thing, truly. He's also extremely skinny. Obviously he's been skinny since 1982 (was a little fatter before then), but he looks like he's about 145 pounds now. His commentary has been stumbling, confused and slurring. Somethin's up in Mactown, that's for sure.

Well, I am old enough to remember and have seen Mac play live dozens of times, both in the 80's and on the Legends tour. He is NOT the same as he's always been in the past, he's clearly declined or on something. Or he's going through something with Patty or one of his kids, several of whom have had severe drug issues (heroin), been arrested, etc. You're referencing an actor in a ridiculously fictionalized (and lousy) film, not the actual Johnny Mac.
