What are some poly strings that are "crisp and lively?"

I hear a lot of strings described as either "crisp and lively" or "dead and muted."

I think I prefer the crisp and lively feel. I like tour bite and alu. While I like the lively feel, I definitely do not want an overly powerful string.

What are some strings that give that crisp feeling? I know RPM, Cyclone, 4S, Hyper G have been described as muted. That's a big chunk of the options.

Volkl V-Pro
MSV Co Focus - I would personally go with 1.23mm.
Big hitter blue rough - if you’re not a string breaker it will become mushy.

I created a thread once asking what "muted" and "crisp" meant to everyone, and there was no consensus.

It seems like usually this is what people mean:

muted: masks mishits
crisp: feedback on where you hit on string bed

In my experience, that doesn't track with "dead" vs "lively". For example ... I played RPM @52 and Velocity @52. I found them both mid-power, so not dead. I guess "dead" is relative ... RPM is dead compared to Origin but lively compared to 4G.

Velocity masks mishits ... RPM does not, so Velocity = muted, RPM = crisp. But then ... calling any poly crisp seems strange. IMO ... we use the term "muted" logically ... but could come up with better term than "crisp". Maybe "loud" or "unforgiving" :p

Yes ... "forgiving" vs "unforgiving" or "comfortable" vs " harsh"

I like TB and I also liked Spiky Shark black so it could be worth a look. It was definitely crisp, but I ended up going back to TB. I give it another go on my new racket and try it again to see.

Crisp and lively - Luxilon Timo 1.22
Crisp, lively and soft - Luxilon BB Ace 1.12, Kirschbaum Competition 1.20

I like to modify your typology as "crisp and lively" and "muted and lively" (abbreviately, "crisp" and "muted"). Both go "dead" over time.

My 50 cents.

Lively: = springy = return energy through more trampoline effect.....mostly associated with softer polys/multis.
Crisp: = ? .... can be many things but not necesarely lively or dead.
Crisp... is maybe how fast the string returns to its normal state, from being stressed by the ball.
Muted: ... Softer polys/multis will many times give the socalled muted feeling when strung at average tension as its absorbs vibration.
Dead...maybe it is when the string has lost its ability to bounce back from ball impact and need restringing....
Less lively string.... act more like a board with holes like a padle bat.... and the energy return is mostly from the compression and decompression of the ball....this is good for control and powerfull hitters.

Crisp is mostly about feel, specifically about Hz vibration transmission. The wider and taller the Hz gamut transmitted, the more crisp a string is.

Lively is about rebound response, specifically peak resilience, or how veraciously a string explodes the ball in and out of the string bed.

Examples of strings that are both crisp and lively:
- Poly: Metallic-colored, as they tend to have alloy additives that enhanced crispness/feel, with a more immediate elastic response (ex: Alu Power)
- Synthetics: Solid-core syn-guts and with durability wraps (ex: OGSM), certain multi's (ex: Multifeel)
- Synthetic-Esters: Poly/synthetic fusion strings with poly fibers tend to be more crisp and pretty lively (ex: Rexis Speed, Lightning Pro)
- Gut: All natural gut is lively, with Luxilon probably being the most crisp in feel
